Traditional Okinawan Karate & Black Belt Training
Authentic Shorin-ryu Shorinkan training, directly connected to our Honbu Dojo in Okinawa. Build discipline, strength, and focus under the guidance of 7th Dan Kyoshi Shihan Suresh Kenichira.
This was a moment of great personal honor for me, receiving my Kyoshi Nanadan (7th Dan) rank from my teacher, Hanshi Minoru Nakazato, at the Shorin-ryu Shorinkan Honbu Dojo in Okinawa. This direct lineage is the foundation of all the instruction I provide to my students.
A look inside a typical training session at our Honbu Dojo. Here, students preparing for their black belt examination practice their kata in unison, building the muscle memory and mental focus required for mastery.
I am incredibly proud of my senior students who traveled to Okinawa and successfully earned their Dan ranks directly from Hanshi Minoru Nakazato. This is the culmination of years of dedicated training and the highest honor for a practitioner.
Here I am practicing with the Eku (oar), a traditional Okinawan Kobudo weapon, during a training session at the Honbu Dojo in Japan. Advanced training goes beyond empty hands to include the complete martial arts system.
Our black belt preparation is comprehensive, involving not just technical practice in the dojo but also serious physical conditioning. This includes outdoor runs to build stamina, a crucial component for any serious martial artist.
A demonstration of synchronized kata by over 100 of our students. This level of precision and discipline is a testament to the effectiveness of our training methods and the dedication of our community.
For 33 years, I have dedicated my life to teaching authentic Okinawan Karate-do in India. This image, showing my black belt and the awards of our federation, represents a long journey of commitment to the art and to my students.
About Featured
Achieving a black belt at our dojo is not a transactional outcome. It is a multi-year commitment to mastering Shorin-ryu techniques, grueling physical conditioning, and deep mental focus. Whether you are aiming for your Shodan or advanced Dan ranking, you are training in a system verified by our Honbu Dojo in Okinawa. We demand consistency, but we provide the precise, proven framework to help you reach that level of mastery.
Our training operates on the foundation of Okinawan Shorin-ryu Shorinkan. This is not sport karate adapted for convenience, it is traditional Budo where lineage matters. When you train with us, you are following a curriculum authorized by the Honbu Dojo in Japan.
The Black Belt Standard
We do not hand out belts. Every promotion, from Shodan to advanced Dan ranks, requires a technical and physical assessment. You will be tested on Kata precision, Kumite tactics, and endurance. Our students are expected to maintain the same rigorous standards practiced by my teachers in Okinawa.
Training Components
- Technical Precision: We spend significant hours on Kata correction. You need to understand the Bunkai application behind every move, not just the motion itself.
- Kobudo Weaponry: Advanced students integrate Okinawan weapons like the Bo staff, Tonfa, and Sai to understand distance, timing, and defensive control.
- Conditioning: You will run, you will train on the makiwara, and you will build the physical resilience required for high-level martial arts.
We host regular black belt prep camps and Dan grading events. If you are a serious practitioner or someone looking to start a journey that changes how you approach challenges in your personal and professional life, come observe a session at our Panduranga Nagar facility. You will see why discipline, for us, is not a concept but a daily practice.
