Authentic Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karate & Kobudo Training
Traditional martial arts instruction in Jayanagar, Bengaluru, focusing on Okinawan lineage, Bo staff and Tonfa proficiency, and disciplined character development.
I demonstrate a fundamental stance with the six-foot Bo staff. Mastering this weapon requires deep focus on posture, balance, and precise movement, which are the cornerstones of my Okinawan Kobudo training.
Here I am with my teacher, Grand Master Sensei Zenpo Shimabukuro. My instruction comes directly from this Shorin-ryu Seibukan lineage, ensuring you learn the authentic art as it is taught in Okinawa.
This is a ready stance with the Tonfa, another core weapon in the Jinbukan Kobudo system. My classes cover the practical application and traditional kata associated with these effective self defense tools.
I congratulate a young student on successfully passing his Kyu grading. Advancement is a direct result of dedication and hard work, and I formally recognize every student's progress with certified ranking.
This is Grand Master Sensei Zenpo Shimabukuro, the head of our style. His form and technique represent the pinnacle of the art that I strive to pass on to my students with integrity and respect.
It is an honor to present a certificate of achievement to another dedicated student. My dojo welcomes everyone who is serious about learning, regardless of age or gender, and is committed to the path of traditional martial arts.
About Featured
When you train here, you are not learning sport-style point fighting or gym-based aerobics. You are studying the Jinbukan Kobudo syllabus exactly as it is transmitted from our headquarters in Okinawa. Whether we are drilling Bo staff basics or Tonfa kata, every movement is analyzed for biomechanical accuracy. I personally oversee postural correction to ensure you learn the technique correctly, not just quickly.
Martial arts is a commitment to the process, not a pursuit of trophies. My approach in the Jayanagar dojo is built on the Dojo Kun principles: honesty, respect, and effort.
The Training Curriculum
We operate in small, focused batches to maintain the quality of transmission. You will not find large, crowded classes where individual attention is lost.
- Kobudo Weapons: Instruction covers the traditional six-foot Bo staff and Tonfa. We focus on footwork, stance, and weapon-body coordination.
- Kata Sequences: A significant portion of training is dedicated to kata, the set sequences that preserve the art's history and logic.
- Postural Correction: My background ensures that we fix alignment and biomechanics, preventing injury and increasing the effectiveness of your techniques.
Why Train with Us
This is not a space for those looking to 'look cool' with weapons. We adhere to the Shorin-ryu Seibukan family lineage. When you progress through your Kyu grades, you receive recognized certifications, ensuring your rank is documented in the international database.
Joining the Dojo
If you are serious about learning the 'why' behind every move rather than just the 'what,' you will find a home here. We require the use of a traditional Black Gi and white trousers, not for aesthetic reasons, but to maintain the respect and discipline of the art. Prospective students should be prepared for rigorous, honest training that builds character alongside skill.
