The Okinawan Connection: Training at the Source
My training is directly linked to the Shorin-ryu Shorinkan Honbu Dojo in Okinawa, Japan, under Hanshi Minoru Nakazato. I regularly travel there with senior students to train with the masters, ensuring the techniques and philosophy we practice are authentic and true to their origins.
The Black Belt Journey: Dojo Training
Achieving a black belt requires consistent effort and dedication in the dojo. Our training focuses on mastering fundamental techniques, kata (forms), and rigorous physical conditioning to build the strength and stamina necessary for advanced practice.
Advanced Skills: Kobudo & Kumite
Beyond empty-hand techniques, our curriculum includes Okinawan Kobudo (weapons training) and advanced Kumite (sparring) seminars. This training develops a deeper understanding of distance, timing, and application, featuring traditional weapons like the Bo staff and Tonfa.
Demonstrations & Community Events
We regularly hold seminars, demonstrations, and community events to showcase our students' skills and foster a strong dojo family. These events include public demonstrations of kata and tameshiwari (breaking), as well as hosting esteemed guest instructors from around the world.
Our Legacy & Achievements
For over 33 years, our federation has been a pillar of traditional karate in India, with many students achieving their Dan ranks at the Honbu Dojo in Okinawa. Our Annual Day is a celebration of our students' hard work, where new black belts are officially awarded.
