Saree to Dress & Gown Conversion
Design & Consultation
- Assessment: Physical session to assess fabric condition, fall, and placement of pallu/borders.
- Pattern Options: Choice of A-line dresses, gathered gowns, box-pleat skirts, or western cuts.
Construction & Material
- Lining: Inclusion of standard Butter Crepe or American Crepe lining (up to 4 meters).
- Support: Basic fusing at neckline and armholes for structural stability.
- Closure: High-quality concealed zipper or side hooks.
- Finish: Full overlocking on inner seams to prevent fraying.
Final Touches
- Fitting: One round of trial and size adjustments at the studio.
- Trims: Thread matching and standard fasteners included.
Saree to Anarkali or Salwar Suit
Fabrication & Cut
- Panel Work: Cutting saree into 'Kalis' to maximize flare and volume for Anarkalis.
- Border Restoration: Detaching old borders and re-attaching them on hems, sleeves, or dupatta.
- Lining: Up to 5 meters of premium Shantoon or Cotton lining for structure.
Structure & Components
- Torso Fit: Padded front with cups included; double-lining in yoke for sheer fabrics.
- Bottom Wear: Stitching of matching pants, churidar, or palazzo using remaining or matching fabric.
- Detailing: Piping or dori work along the neckline and sleeves.
Finishing
- Accessories: Handmade fabric tassels (latkans) created from scrap fabric.
- Dupatta: Edging and finishing of the original pallu if used as a dupatta.
Heirloom Lehenga & Bridal Reconstruction
Volume & Structure
- Can-Can Layering: Installation of high-grade hard net layers to ensure ball-gown flare.
- Waist Support: Heavy canvas reinforcing at the waistband to hold the weight of embroidery.
- Blouse: Complete stitching of a designer blouse with padded cups and intricate back designs.
Complex Reconstruction
- Design Change: Converting traditional lehengas into Indo-Western drape skirts or fusion sets.
- Sizing: Significant size alteration or refitting of vintage pieces.
- Fabric Mix: Assembly of multiple garments or adding new fabric for a cohesive look.
Premium Finish
- Lining: High-quality Satin or heavy Shantoon lining for luxurious fall.
- Stitching: Double locking reinforced stitches to support heavy work.
- Fitting: Multiple fitting sessions (2 to 3) to ensure perfect drape.

Hi, I’m Priyanka, the heart behind Needle Craft. Honestly, stitching is my therapy and my party both! That newspaper feature was cool, but nothing beats seeing someone light up in a dress I made.
