Turn Your Old Sarees into Stunning Lehengas & Anarkalis
Don't let your favourite sarees sit in a trunk. Let's give them a beautiful second life as a custom-fitted lehenga or Anarkali set that you’ll love to wear again.
This vibrant red suit was created from an old saree for a client to wear on Karwachauth. I designed it as a comfortable yet festive Anarkali-style outfit, perfect for celebrating special moments.
Here, I transformed a client's yellow saree into a beautiful Anarkali. To complete the look, I added a custom-made dupatta with delicate, handmade Gota work, creating a full ensemble ready for any celebration.
Imagine turning an old saree into a brand new lehenga for an upcoming wedding. That's exactly what I did here, crafting this gorgeous purple lehenga with a modern blouse, giving new purpose to a sentimental fabric.
A client's joy is everything. This beautiful black lehenga, with its shimmering gold border, was made from an old saree. The twirl-worthy skirt and patterned top came together to create an outfit she absolutely loved.
About From Saree to Lehenga & Anarkali
Before we start, I personally check the fabric strength and fall of your saree to ensure it can support the weight of a new lehenga or Anarkali. We then carefully detach and reuse your original borders—giving you a perfectly coordinated look that preserves the sentimental value of the original piece while giving it a fresh, modern silhouette.
Why Upcycle Your Sarees?
Your mother’s wedding saree or a heavy silk piece you haven’t worn in years has immense potential. Upcycling isn't just about saving fabric; it's about making fashion sustainable and keeping memories alive. I love the challenge of taking a traditional drape and reimagining it for a modern event.
The Transformation Process
- Assessment: We start with a consultation at my studio in Sector 57, Gurugram. I assess the fabric’s age, drape, and the placement of the borders to see what design will work best.
- Design & Construction: Whether it's an Anarkali set or a bridal lehenga, I focus on the structure. For Anarkalis, I use premium Shantoon lining and proper panel cutting to maximize flare. For lehengas, I add hard net can-can layers and canvas waistbands to ensure the outfit holds the weight of your embroidery.
- Details that Matter: I never compromise on comfort. All blouses come padded, and I use concealed zippers for that clean, seamless finish. If the saree has a beautiful pallu, I can turn it into a statement dupatta, complete with handmade tassels (latkans) using leftover fabric.
Getting the Fit Right
A custom outfit is only as good as the fit. We’ll do 1-2 trial sessions to ensure your lehenga or Anarkali drapes perfectly. Because I stitch everything myself, you get the personal attention your heirloom garments deserve.
