Modern Dresses and Gowns from Your Old Sarees
Don't let your favorite sarees sit forgotten in a trunk. I can transform them into breezy kaftans, stylish gharara suits, or elegant gowns that you will actually wear.
This breezy and beautiful kaftan-style dress was upcycled from a lightweight floral saree. I added a custom embellished belt to cinch the waist, creating a flattering and comfortable outfit perfect for a resort holiday or a casual party.
A saree can be completely reimagined into a contemporary outfit. This client wanted something unique, so I designed this stunning gharara suit with a high-neck top, using the patterns of her old saree in a fresh, modern way.
This Indo-Western outfit shows the true versatility of upcycling. I used a client's saree to create a coordinated set with a drape skirt and a sheer jacket, proving that you can get a trendy, multi-piece look from a single garment.
An elegant evening gown created from a client's satin silk saree. The rich blue fabric and simple polka dot pattern were perfect for this full-length gown design, and I used the saree's original border for the sleeves.
About From Saree to Modern Dresses & Gowns
Before I cut a single inch of fabric, I sit with you to check the drape, border placement, and structural integrity of your saree. Whether it is a vintage satin silk or a sheer chiffon, I determine the best cut to ensure your new dress feels like a second skin and hangs perfectly.
Your old sarees carry memories, but they often stay hidden away because the style feels dated. I specialize in breathing new life into these fabrics by reimagining them as modern, wearable silhouettes. When you bring your saree to my studio in Sector 57, Gurugram, we start with a thorough assessment. I look at the condition of the material, the placement of the pallu, and the type of embroidery to decide if it works better as a gown, a chic kaftan, or a trendy gharara suit.
For structured gowns, I use quality butter crepe or premium shantoon linings to ensure the flare is right and the dress holds its shape comfortably. If your saree is sheer, we can add double lining or tailored panels to give it body without losing the flow. Every piece is finished with hidden zippers and custom fittings because a dress is only as good as its comfort level. You get to decide the cut, and I handle the technical work of preserving those delicate borders and intricate patterns. Bring your old favorites over and let us create something you desire.
