This is the feeling of pure freedom that Aerial Yoga gives you. Using the hammock to fly, I feel weightless and strong, smiling through the entire practice. It’s a moment of sukoon, or peace, found in the air.

Hanging upside down in an aerial inversion is one of the best things you can do for your spine. The hammock supports my body completely, allowing for a deep, restorative stretch that releases all tension.
A bound angle pose, or Baddha Konasana, performed while inverted in the aerial hammock. This variation allows gravity to help deepen the stretch in the hips and inner thighs while also providing a gentle spinal traction.

About Aerial Yoga: Find Your Wings
Hanging upside down in a hammock feels intimidating at first, but it is actually the safest way to decompress your spine. I use professional-grade nylon tricot hammocks that provide full support, so you can ease into inversions even if you have never tried aerial yoga before. It is not about how flexible you are, it is about learning to trust the fabric and letting go.
I often see students worrying about their flexibility before they walk into the studio. Please, leave that at the door. Aerial yoga is unique because the hammock acts as a partner. It holds your weight while you work on deep spinal traction and heart-opening poses that are often difficult on the floor.
In my group sessions, we focus on safe mounting and dismounting, ensuring everyone feels secure before trying inversions. We move through floor-based warmups to prepare the body before taking flight. It is a shared journey where we support each other, and if you wobble, we laugh about it together.
For those who want more focused guidance, my 1-on-1 sessions are perfect for working on specific goals, whether that means mastering backflips or finding deep therapeutic relief. I also offer private Acro-Yoga sessions for couples or friends who want to explore base and flyer roles while building trust.
Remember, yoga is just practice. Some days you will flow, some days you will wobble. That is the abhyaas. Come as you are, and let us find some space in your spine.
