Handcrafted Custom Mugs, Tumblers & Ceramic Jars
I turn simple lumps of clay into your daily companions. Whether it is a hand-painted mug or a lidded jar for your kitchen, I craft every piece with love right here in my Whitefield studio.
A little peek at some mugs in progress. I love carving and painting birds and dogs, each with its own colorful personality. They are waiting for their final glaze.
A video showing the journey of my hand-painted mugs, from unglazed illustrations to the final, vibrant pieces ready to be used and loved.
A close-up of two of my favorite bird mugs after firing. The colors of the underglaze came out so bright and cheerful.
Another look at these colorful bird mugs. I love painting these little feathered friends, each one perched on a branch.
Two of my owl mugs, side-by-side. I used a sgraffito technique to carve the details of the feathers, giving them a wonderful texture.
A slightly different angle of the two owl mugs, showing the contrast between the two different carving styles I used.
The whole family of bird and animal mugs together. Seeing them all lined up after coming out of the kiln is one of my favorite moments.
I'm getting these lidded jars ready for glazing. I decided to paint them with underglaze and leave them unglazed for a rustic, matte finish.
The finished lidded jars with their glossy black lids. The hand-drawn bird designs look so crisp against the natural clay color.
A top-down view of the three bird-themed jars, showing the beautiful spiral details on the black glazed lids.
About Custom Mugs, Tumblers & Jars
When you commission a custom mug or jar, it is a real partnership. You share your vision with me—whether it is a specific bird motif, a pet portrait, or just a color scheme that makes you happy—and I shape it by hand. Because every single piece is thrown on the wheel or pinched, it will have unique, honest quirks. If you are looking for factory uniformity, this is not it. If you want a piece with soul, built to last and made to hold your favorite tea or kitchen staples, I would love to create it for you.
Why handmade matters
My process starts with high-fire stoneware clay. Whether I am using the wheel for consistent shapes or hand-pinching for that rustic, organic feel, each piece spends time in my kiln at 1200 degrees Celsius to ensure it is durable and food-safe.
The design process
I love working with techniques like Sgraffito to carve intricate designs—like my signature owls, birds, or custom pet faces—directly into the clay. For glazing, I experiment with splash glazes, gradients, and matte finishes to make sure your piece is truly yours.
What to keep in mind
- Timeline: Since I am working with clay, please allow 2 to 3 weeks. The clay needs to dry slowly, and the double-firing process cannot be rushed.
- Safety: Everything I make is lead-free and food-safe. Your mugs and jars are designed for daily use and are microwave safe.
- Customization: From wide-brim mugs to lidded jars with a tight seal, we can figure out the dimensions that fit your lifestyle. Just let me know what you need during our chat.
