A peek behind the clay-covered curtain at Mitti Space
Mitti is not just a studio; it is a living, breathing community. Here is the quiet hum, the messy hands, and the magic that happens between the kiln cycles.
A little peek into the studio these days. Between student projects, my own commissions, and plenty of purrs from Silky, the studio is always buzzing with creative energy. The doors are always open if you want to join us.
Here I am in my element, glazing pieces in the studio. This is a quiet, focused part of the process where the pieces really start to come to life before they head into the kiln for their final transformation.
This is Hithika, one of our amazing teachers, getting her beautiful handmade mugs ready for a market sale. She brings so much warmth and energy to our studio, both as a teacher and a potter.
The sounds of Mitti. This video captures the gentle rhythm of the studio: the spinning wheel, the quiet focus of students, and the gentle hum of a happy, creative space.
A successful bisque unloading. It’s always like opening presents on Christmas morning, seeing all the student and personal projects come out of the first firing, ready for glazing.
Come knead some clay with me. This is the most essential first step in pottery, preparing the mitti to be shaped. It’s a physical, meditative process that connects you to the material.
Hithika taking a well-deserved selfie with her freshly carved pot. She’s a ball of energy who makes our classes so fun and reassuring for anyone touching clay for the first time.
Hithika at her first-ever market sale, surrounded by the incredible collection of work she created at the studio. We are so proud to be part of her journey.
The announcement for The Mitti Collective, our curated pop-up celebrating ceramic art. We love creating opportunities for our talented community of potters to showcase their work.

About Behind the Scenes at Mitti Space
If you have ever wondered what goes into that perfect matcha bowl, the answer is mostly patience and twenty minutes of kneading clay. We spend our days here not just sculpting, but prepping, trimming, and waiting for the kiln to cool. It is messy, it is physical, and yes, sometimes the clay refuses to cooperate. Whether it is Hithika teaching a weekend batch or me wedging a fresh batch of stoneware, this is the real, unpolished side of our daily rhythm.
There is a specific, quiet energy that fills the studio when the wheel starts spinning. It is not the 'Pinterest perfect' version of pottery you see online; it is the sound of chatter, the occasional clatter of tools, and the focus of someone feeling clay for the first time.
The Daily Rhythm
Our days in Khar West are built around the slow science of ceramics. You will find us cleaning bisque pieces, weighing out clay, or waiting for the kiln to finish its firing cycle. It is a process that cannot be rushed, and that is exactly why we love it. When you visit, you might see Hithika prepping her latest pieces for a market, or you might find me lost in a hand-building project, with Silky the cat napping on the side, keeping everything grounded.
More Than Just Clay
People often ask if they need experience to join, and the answer is always no. We believe creativity is a personal journey, not a race. You might come here to learn a technique, but you will stay for the community. We host students from all walks of life—beginners who are nervous about touching the wheel, and regulars who have found their second home among our shelves.
Whether it is the collaborative buzz of 'The Mitti Collective' pop-ups or the meditative stillness of a Tuesday afternoon, we invite you to be part of the mess and the magic. There is always a fresh batch of clay waiting to be shaped, and a seat at the table with your name on it. If you want to understand how we turn a simple lump of earth into something that holds your morning coffee, simply stop by.
Mitti Space
I'm Kosha, and Mitti is where my art meets our community. It started in a tiny corner of my home, but now it's a place for us to gather, laugh, and get our hands dirty. Come visit us in Khar and see how we work.
