Works in Progress: Our Architectural Journey
Architecture is the art of framing time. See the raw, honest beginnings of our latest projects as they emerge from the earth to find their soul.
We are now building a little commune of three homes in Alibaug, for families who have chosen to live on the same acreage. The project is about the space between, the atmosphere of green, birdcalls, and the rustle of leaves.
Our Khwabgah project in Delhi, shown here in construction renders. The design features a modern interpretation of a jaali screen and a serene pool area, blending traditional motifs with contemporary forms.
Another view of the family commune under construction in Alibaug. The concrete structure establishes the long, linear form of the homes, which are designed to allow for both privacy and collective living.
The raw concrete frame of the Alibaug family commune, with the hillscape visible in the background. The space between the structures is what the project is about, creating an atmosphere of country life.

About Works in Progress
We don't just build structures; we design the spaces between them. In our current Alibaug project, we are bringing a three-home commune to life, focusing on the rhythm of repeating columns and the way the frame captures the hillscape, ensuring that even in its raw concrete state, the building breathes with the landscape.
The construction phase is where the dialogue between the architect and the land truly intensifies. When we visit a site, it is not just to check drawings; it is to observe how the sun traces its path across the floor plate and how the wind channels through the structure.
The Analog Process
Our design philosophy begins with pencil, paper, and physical models. We build with wood and brass to feel the weight and scale before a single brick is laid. This analog method remains central to our practice. By avoiding the screen early in the design cycle, we ensure the building retains a human touch and a genuine connection to its surroundings.
Site Supervision & Integrity
We believe that architecture is built on site, not just in the studio. Our senior architects conduct regular supervision to ensure that the actual construction honors our climate-responsive plans. Whether it involves aligning a jaali screen to filter the harsh sun or ensuring the concrete finish achieves that specific, aged patina we value, the hands-on approach is critical.
Working Together
- Deep-Dive Briefing: We start by crafting a 'Soul' document that captures your lifestyle nuances.
- Climate Engineering: We analyze local wind and sun patterns to design passive cooling systems that reduce long-term reliance on electricity.
- Material Honesty: We prioritize raw, aging materials like basalt, granite, and salvaged teak, allowing your home to settle into its landscape over time rather than looking 'new' forever.
