Handcrafted Materials and Architectural Detail
Materials are the soul of your home. We work with raw, honest elements like exposed brick and concrete to create spaces that age beautifully and feel alive.
This image captures the process of creating our signature leaf-imprinted concrete. We carefully press large palm leaves into wet concrete, leaving behind a beautiful, natural texture that is truly one of a kind.
The final result is a stunning home theater where the walls are adorned with custom leaf-shaped light fixtures and the bar features our unique leaf-imprinted concrete. It's a space where art and architecture become one.
A view through a circular opening in a brick wall during construction. This shot highlights the beautiful play of light and shadow created by a latticed roof, turning a simple material into a dynamic architectural element.
During the construction of a new project, we explore patterns and textures with exposed brickwork. This attention to material detail, even in the early stages, is fundamental to our design process.
We believe in fearlessly overlapping old and new. In this project, we preserved the original 'acchukal' (brick) wall and arch from the existing building, adding drama and history to the new home.
This image shows the process of creating a custom metal rain chain for a boutique hotel. Small, rusted metal pieces are welded together to form a sculptural element that is both functional and artistic.
A 'jali' (lattice) porch at our upcoming guest facility in Chikmagalur creates a stunning display of light and shade. The mesmerizing patterns shift throughout the day, changing the quality and feel of the space.
About this collection
We do not just pour concrete and leave it. Our signature process involves carefully pressing large palm leaves into wet concrete while it sets. This is not about factory-made perfection; it is about capturing a moment of nature that turns a structural wall into a piece of art you can physically touch. It brings the outside in, making the home feel grounded rather than manufactured.
Architecture is an ongoing conversation with the materials we choose. Whether we are reusing antique teak doors or crafting an exposed wire-cut brick wall, we focus on elements that have their own quirks and stories. Our approach to design centers on tactile experiences.
Why Raw Materials Matter
Modern interiors often hide the structure behind gypsum boards and synthetic paints. We prefer to show the bones of the building. Exposed concrete, rammed earth walls, and lime plastering are not just finishing choices; they are active participants in the climate control and health of the space.
The Craft of Detail
- Brickwork & Arches: We often preserve existing 'acchukal' (traditional brick) structures. Integrating these old elements with new masonry creates a sense of history that new construction cannot replicate.
- Light & Shadow: Our 'jali' (lattice) work is designed to move with the sun. It creates patterns that shift throughout the day, ensuring the home feels different in the morning than it does in the evening.
- Metal & Reuse: From crafting custom rain chains to turning industrial scraps into feature pieces, we believe everything has a second life if you look at it closely enough.
Every project is different because we adapt our techniques to the site. If you have an existing structure in Bengaluru or beyond, we look for ways to weave the new with the old, ensuring the result is both functional and deeply personal.
Mistry Architects
We are a team that treats architecture like a conversation between nature and art. Our studio is always buzzing, and whether we are reusing antique teak or imprinting leaves on concrete, we are obsessed with finding the stories hidden in materials.
