About Our Team & Philosophy
Designing a space with us is not about selecting options from a catalog. It is a conversation. Whether we are sketching out a home in Bengaluru or site-supervising a holiday retreat in Chikmagalur, our focus remains on materials that breathe—earth, brick, and stone—and layouts that let nature take the lead. We prioritize building spaces where the light, the breeze, and the inhabitants truly connect.
Architecture as a Story
At Mistry Architects, we believe that buildings should be more than just functional shelters. Our philosophy centers on creating spaces that feel alive. We reject the urge to bulldoze a landscape into submission. Instead, we look for ways to work with the existing trees, the slope of the land, and the natural light. This approach, which we often call climate-responsive design, allows us to create homes that feel like they have grown out of the earth rather than being placed upon it.
The Thugs of Mistry's
We are a studio fueled by more than just blueprints. Our team is a mix of art, nature, and pure energy. When we are not drafting plans for institutional projects or restoration work, you might find us celebrating, hitting the road, or debating the merits of a specific type of exposed concrete. This collective energy translates directly into our work. We bring this same passion to every project, whether it is a small renovation or a large community hub.
Our Process
- Listen: Every project starts with a dialogue. We want to know how you live and what you value.
- Sketch: We believe in the power of hand-drawn ideas to capture the spirit of a space before it becomes digital.
- Materials: We favor vernacular choices like wire-cut bricks, random rubble stone, and oxides. These materials carry their own character and age gracefully.
- Adapt: We love the challenge of adaptive reuse. Giving an old structure a new purpose while retaining its soul is one of the most rewarding parts of our craft.
We are based in Indiranagar, Bengaluru, but our love for diverse landscapes takes us across India to work on projects that challenge the status quo.
