About Our Team & Voice
We don't work in isolation. Our design process starts with deep research into the specific climate and cultural context of your site. Our team acts as both researchers and storytellers, often training masons on-site to execute complex material experiments, like custom terracotta facades or kinetic screens, ensuring every detail is technically sound.
Our studio is a collective of designers, architects, and thinkers who believe that buildings should be more than just boxes. We call ourselves 'naqshaybaaz' because we are constantly exploring, dreaming, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the built environment.
The Collective Approach
When you engage with us, you aren't hiring a single person. You are tapping into a studio culture that prioritizes dialogue. Whether we are designing a private residence in Delhi or a retreat in Goa, our team collaborates intensely on the 'why' behind every project. We spend weeks on conceptualization, or 'parti,' before finalizing any layout. This approach ensures that our designs are not generic but are rooted in the specific light, air movement, and cultural history of the land.
Climate-Responsive Engineering
Our expertise extends beyond aesthetics into hard engineering. We treat the building envelope as a canvas that must perform. Our team specializes in:
- Facade Engineering: Designing kinetic screens and thermopine louvers that respond to the sun.
- Material R&D: Developing custom brick bonds and concrete formwork that challenge traditional construction methods.
- Sustainable Integration: Implementing stack ventilation, earth air tunnels, and rainwater harvesting as standard practice, not as an afterthought.
A Culture of Inquiry
We are curious about the future of architecture in a changing climate. Our team regularly participates in design symposiums to discuss the impact of anthropogenic climate change on our cities.
