Kalaripayattu Workshops in South Delhi
Move beyond static poses. Our workshops blend classical Yoga alignment with the ancient, dynamic power of Kalaripayattu to build real strength, mobility, and breath control.
Experience the fluid power of Kalaripayattu, an ancient Indian martial art that I bring to you through our workshops. This video, featuring my colleague Carolina Prada, shows the foundational movements, postures, and dynamic sequences you will learn. We focus on connecting each step with your breath to build strength, agility, and inner focus.
This is an invitation to our in-person Kalaripayattu workshop in New Delhi. The practice is a system of embodied discipline, using powerful stances and movements to cultivate inner awareness. These sessions are designed to be an immersive experience into this ancient martial tradition.
Hear directly from one of our workshop participants. She shares her curiosity about Kalaripayattu, its connection to Indian classical dance, and her experience learning the foundational movements with us. It is always rewarding to see students connect with the wisdom of this practice.
My workshops are a blend of Asana and Kalari, uniting the body, breath, and mind. We use the stability and structure of yoga to prepare for the dynamic energy of Kalaripayattu. This approach ensures you build both strength and mindful awareness.
I am so pleased to collaborate with Carolina Prada from Kalarigram for these sessions. I lead the Asana portion to prepare the body, and she guides you through the authentic techniques of Kalari. Together, we offer a complete practice for all levels, available both online and in person.
Movement is a powerful tool for managing stress. In this video, I invite you to a special workshop focused on sacred stretching and breathwork. I teach simple yet effective techniques to help you release tension and understand the patterns your body holds.
About Featured
We do not just teach martial moves; we prepare your body to perform them safely. I handle the structural yoga prep to open your hips and lengthen your spine, while Carolina focuses on the martial footwork and animal postures. It is a system designed to help you build functional strength, not just memorize a sequence.
Why Combine Yoga and Kalari
Many of my students come to me because they want more than just repetition. While yoga offers structure and alignment, Kalaripayattu brings a martial intelligence that wakes up the body in a completely different way. By integrating both, you learn to move from your center, protecting your joints while increasing your range of motion.
What to Expect
We run these sessions with a focus on technique and sustainability. Because Kalaripayattu is physically demanding, I lead the initial Asana segments. We focus on hip mobility and spinal health, which are the prerequisites for the deep lunges and leg-work found in Kalari. Once the body is prepared, Carolina Prada, who trained at Kalarigram, introduces the Chuvadukal (foundational steps) and the animal postures that give this practice its power.
Who is this for?
You do not need a background in martial arts. We have designed these sessions for:
- Yoga Teachers: Looking to add dynamic movement and leg strength to their teaching toolkit.
- Fitness Professionals: Seeking a deeper connection between breath and physical action.
- Movement Enthusiasts: Anyone curious about Indian embodied knowledge systems.
Practical Details
Our in-person workshops are held in our Vasant Vihar studio, which is temperature-controlled to keep you comfortable through the intensity of the flow. For those who cannot make it to South Delhi, we offer hybrid and online-only tracks that maintain the same attention to alignment cues. Every class is kept to a small group to ensure you receive corrections on your form, whether you are in the room or on your screen.
