About Kalaripayattu & Movement Workshops
Why I Bring Kalari to Movement
Movement isn't just about stillness or holding a pose - it's about letting energy flow. I struggled with staying still in yoga, but it taught me a lot about my own breath and body. Kalaripayattu, with its roots deep in Indian tradition, offers a whole different vibe. It's not just fighting; it's about moving with intention, connecting with your prana, and tuning into your own rhythms.
What You’ll Get Out of This
We go way beyond simple exercise. You'll get:
- Kalari warm-ups and foundational footwork (Chuvadukal), which build real strength and flexibility
- Animal postures - yes, you literally channel animals like the lion or elephant, which is pretty wild and fun
- Breath integration (pranayama), so every move gets powered by your own energy
- A peek into the history and philosophy behind this martial art
I host these workshops with Carolina Prada, who brings loads of experience from Kalarigram. I lead the yoga asana part, prepping you for the dynamic side of Kalari.

My Story
You know, Om YogaShala isn’t just about yoga mats and fancy poses. It started with faith, prayer, and a bit of restlessness. I was that person who couldn’t sit still, always jumping at the gym. Yoga didn't come easy, but it taught me quietude in movement. My home’s a patchwork of travel memories, a little modern Indian chaos (Vogue even noticed). Broke my toe once – yeah, movement’s precious. Every stumble, every breath, it’s all a teacher.
