Real experiences from our Kalaripayattu and yoga workshops
We believe in building a practice that respects both tradition and the individual. Hear from our community about how they integrate our movement sessions into their lives and what draws them to these ancient arts.
It is a joy to hear how our workshops resonate with students. In this video, a participant shares her perspective as an Indian classical dancer and what drew her to explore the ancient wisdom and movement basics of Kalaripayattu with us.
About Hear From Our Community
The video above features a conversation with an Indian classical dancer who joined our recent intensive in Vasant Vihar. She discusses why she was drawn to Kalaripayattu specifically through our curriculum—she sought a deeper understanding of the martial roots behind her own art form, finding that our blend of structural alignment and breathwork provided exactly the bridge she needed.
At Om YogaShala, we view our workshops not just as classes, but as a gathering of curiosity. Whether you are a yoga teacher looking to diversify your movement vocabulary, a dancer seeking the roots of your discipline, or someone completely new to physical arts, you will find a common thread here: the desire to move with intention.
We intentionally keep our in-person sessions at our Vasant Vihar studio small, usually between 10 to 15 people. This limitation is intentional. It allows Carolina Prada, who leads our Kalari modules, to provide specific, hands-on adjustments that you simply cannot get in a large, crowded hall.
Our community is diverse, but the feedback is consistent. Students often mention that they arrive curious about the 'animal postures' or the historical lineage of Kalaripayattu, but they stay because of how the practice changes their day-to-day stability. They report feeling more grounded in their hips, more attentive to their breath in daily life, and more capable of managing their own energy levels.
We encourage you to watch the testimonials, observe the flow in the clips, and ask yourself where you are in your own movement journey. If you are feeling stagnant, or if you are simply looking for a practice that challenges your habitual patterns, our community is here to support that exploration.
