We believe a house without a courtyard is like a home without a soul. Our designs bring the outdoors in, creating breathing, light-filled sanctuaries that naturally stay cool in our tropical climate.

We believe a house without a courtyard is like a person without a soul. This open-to-sky space is central to our designs, bringing in light, air, and a piece of nature to create a living, breathing home.

This video tour of 'The Courtyard', our co-working space, shows our philosophy in action. We used vernacular architecture with a contemporary twist, creating mutually shaded spaces interspersed with green pockets and water bodies to inspire creativity.

The front sit-out of the Basavanagudi house, a perfect spot to enjoy the morning sun or the smell of rain. It's a simple, traditional space for playing a game of *Chowka Bara* or just watching the world go by.
This west-facing balcony is shaded by a deep wooden truss canopy. It softens the harsh afternoon sun, keeping the inner rooms cool while providing a cozy, elevated space to interact with the surroundings.

This residence is a contemporary interpretation of a traditional courtyard home. The central, sky-lit space acts as the heart of the house, with all rooms organized around it to maximize light and maintain a constant visual connection.6

A central courtyard in a recently completed house, designed as a tranquil heart of the home. The inclusion of a tree and simple landscaping, combined with the concrete and wood material palette, creates a peaceful, private outdoor room.8
The pool at our Alibaug holiday home, designed to reflect the clean lines of the architecture. The living space opens directly onto the pool deck, completely erasing the line between the interior and the serene outdoor environment.
Soft morning light fills a daughter's bedroom in the Debris Block House. The large window offers verdant views, while the custom jaali screen provides ventilation and security, allowing the window to be left open.
From the living room of the Debris Block House, the garden is always in view through floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors. We brought a tree inside to further enhance the connection to nature and draw light down from a skylight above.

In the Kanasu residence, large sliding glass doors completely retract, merging the living room with the outdoor deck and vertical garden. This creates a single, expansive space for relaxation and entertainment.14
This rooftop terrace features a slatted wood pergola that not only provides shade but also creates beautiful, linear shadow patterns on the floor. It’s an open-air lounge designed for enjoying the city views.
