We believe a door is more than just an entry—it is the story of a home. We source century-old reclaimed timber, bringing timeless character to modern, sustainable spaces.

We are obsessed with doors. This collection shows our passion for sourcing and upcycling vintage doors, some over a century old. Each one brings its own history and character, creating unforgettable entrances that tell a story.

Opening doors to sustainability. This repurposed wooden door, set against an exposed brick wall, showcases the elegance of recycled materials and our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint.

A beautiful repurposed door at The Brick Loft project. We believe in giving old materials a new life, and this vintage door adds a unique, rustic charm to the entrance.

A weathered, rustic door opens to a garden path. The dappled sunlight highlights the texture and history of the upcycled wood, creating a seamless transition between the built and natural worlds.

This rustic, weathered door, with its old hardware, adds immense character to the space. We love finding these unique pieces that tell a story and reflect our client's love for distinctive design.

Unlocking nostalgia, one repurposed door at a time. This rustic door with heavy iron hardware was carefully selected to make a bold statement and carry a sense of history into a new home.

A beautifully distressed vintage door. Each repurposed piece we use carries its own identity and memories, adding a layer of soul to the spaces we design.

This old door, with its simple iron fittings, was salvaged and given a new home. We believe in curating collections of such pieces that reflect a love for things with history and character.

Another view of a favorite distressed door. The layers of paint and time create a unique patina that cannot be replicated, making it a true statement piece.

Step into the harmony of nature. This upcycled wooden door, framed by climbing vines, shows how we blend our structures with the environment, letting green and brown hues create an organic charm.

About The Soul of a Home: Upcycled & Handcrafted Details

Finding a hundred-year-old door is just the beginning. The real work is in the restoration, where we carefully treat the timber for termites and adapt antique dimensions to fit modern structural lintels. This ensures your entrance remains a timeless historical piece without compromising the security or thermal efficiency of your home.

For us, waste is a failure of imagination. When we design a home, we don't look for brand-new, mass-produced materials. Instead, we hunt for vintage doors and frames that have already lived a life. Bringing these pieces into a new build—like in our 'Brick Loft' project—adds a sense of history that new wood simply cannot replicate.

Why We Choose Reclaimed Wood

Beyond the aesthetic, there is a practical reason to use reclaimed materials. Older timber is often seasoned for decades, making it more stable and less prone to the warping or shrinking you might see in modern kiln-dried wood. When we integrate these elements, we are not just saving wood from a landfill; we are using a material that has proven its durability over time.

The Process of Integration

Incorporating a vintage door into a contemporary wall requires specific craftsmanship. It involves:

  • Structural Planning: We define the wall openings early in the design phase to accommodate the specific size of the door, rather than forcing the door to fit a standard architectural grid.
  • Hardware Restoration: We salvage or recreate ironmongery to match the era of the door, ensuring the operation is smooth and secure.
  • Surface Treatment: We strip away layers of paint to reveal the grain, or preserve the 'weathered' patina with natural oils, avoiding toxic synthetic varnishes that seal the wood.

This approach to upcycling creates a focal point that anchors a room. Whether it is an intricate carved entrance or a simple, rustic pantry door, these elements remind us that a house becomes a home when it holds onto its past while looking toward a sustainable future.
