The Art of Indoor-Outdoor Living

In Bengaluru, nature should not be an afterthought. We design homes where walls disappear, courtyards breathe, and your living area extends into the garden. It is about dissolving boundaries so you can live in harmony with the light, the trees, and the elements.

In the Kanasu residence, large sliding glass doors completely retract, merging the living room with the outdoor deck and vertical garden. This creates a single, expansive space for relaxation and entertainment.

This rooftop terrace features a slatted wood pergola that not only provides shade but also creates beautiful, linear shadow patterns on the floor. It’s an open-air lounge designed for enjoying the city views.

A view from the family room overlooking the double-height internal courtyard in "The Mantle" house. This visual connection across floors ensures the home feels open and integrated with its green core.

The central courtyard in "The Mantle" project, designed as an extension of the living area. We used slatted screens and lush planting to create a private, sun-dappled oasis within the home.

A view from the garden into the main living space of the "Between Two Trees" home. The pivot door opens up to reveal the traditional courtyard inside, showcasing a perfect harmony between the exterior landscape and interior design.

About this collection

We do not just place windows. We use slim-line, floor-to-ceiling sliding systems that completely retract, allowing your living room to merge with the deck. In projects like Kanasu, this structural choice turns the garden into a living area, letting the Bengaluru breeze and natural light dictate the rhythm of your home.

Designing for the Bengaluru Climate

Nature is our primary material. On tight urban plots in Bengaluru, you often lose the chance to engage with the outdoors. We fix this by treating the courtyard as the lung of the house. By carving out a central green space, we allow every room to borrow light and air from a private oasis rather than relying on stale vents or narrow setbacks.

The Mechanics of Transparency

To achieve true indoor-outdoor living, the transition must be physical and psychological. We utilize heavy-duty, high-performance sliding glass doors that tuck away completely. When retracted, the boundary between your indoor furniture and your outdoor landscape dissolves. We anchor these transitions with material continuity, using the same stone flooring from the interior living room out onto the deck to create one continuous floor plate.

Honest Materials and Light

Our philosophy remains constant, God is in the details. We use honest materials like teak wood slats, wire-cut brick, and raw concrete. These materials age gracefully when exposed to the elements. We design for shadows as much as we design for light. Large skylights over indoor water bodies or courtyards create moving patterns of light throughout the day, ensuring that your home feels alive, shifting, and connected to the sun cycles outside.

I am Rajesh Shivaram. For me, architecture is not just about building a structure, it is about creating a 'Kanasu', a dream that you live in every day. I obsess over the play of light and shadow, using honest materials to ensure your home feels like a natural extension of your environment.
