Commercial Restaurant and Cafe Design
We conceptualize hospitality environments where architectural form meets functional flow, ensuring every restaurant or cafe design resonates with its specific context.
The entrance gate of the Bake House cafe, designed with an ornate arch that hints at the charming, glass-house-inspired structure within.
The white boundary wall and arched gate create an inviting entry point, contrasting with the lush greenery and the wooden structure of the cafe visible behind it.
Viewed through the entrance arch, the glass-and-wood structure of the cafe is revealed, built carefully around existing trees to create a feeling of being in a forest.
The interior of the Bake House is a light-filled glass box with a pitched roof and exposed wooden framing. The transparency connects diners to the surrounding garden.
The high, pitched ceiling and extensive glazing give the cafe interior an expansive, airy feel, blurring the boundary between inside and out.
The design allows for a seamless flow from the enclosed cafe space to the outdoor seating area, which features a classic black-and-white checkered floor.
The physical and visual flow of the rectangular enclosure conceptually reconnects the interior with its landscape, creating a cohesive dining experience.
The outdoor seating area is nestled among existing teak and mango trees. A large mural adds an artistic touch to the boundary wall.
A view of the outdoor patio through the trees, showcasing the checkered flooring and custom murals that define the space's character.
The outdoor seating is shaded by a translucent roof, protecting diners from the elements while maintaining a connection to the sky and surrounding trees.
About Commercial Design: Restaurants & Cafes
Effective restaurant design requires a precise balance between operational requirements and atmospheric quality. In our commercial projects, we prioritize the integration of the built form with existing site features—whether preserving mature vegetation or optimizing natural light paths—to create dining enclosures that feel organically embedded in their environment.
Our commercial design methodology centers on creating a cohesive narrative between the interior space and the visitor's experience. We maintain a focus on structural honesty, utilizing a restrained material palette—exposed Mild Steel (MS) fabrication, natural timber, and textural wall finishes—to define zones without relying on visual clutter.
Design Philosophy for Hospitality
- Site-Responsive Architecture: We analyze the existing plot constraints to determine the placement of service areas, kitchens, and public dining zones. By aligning circulation paths, we ensure efficient service flow while maintaining a distinct visual character for the dining area.
- Materiality and Atmosphere: Our projects often utilize industrial elements like exposed HVAC ducting and black-and-white checkered cement flooring to establish a raw, authentic aesthetic. We avoid trends, preferring materials that age well, such as solid wood for banquettes and granite for table surfaces.
- Spatial Modulation: We utilize mezzanines and split-level floor planning to add intimacy to open-plan volumes. This allows for a variety of seating experiences within a single establishment, ranging from secluded corners to open, high-volume social areas.
Whether designing a high-traffic cafe or a thematic restaurant, our focus remains on constructability and longevity. We work closely with contractors to execute complex fabrications, such as industrial staircases and custom metal screens, ensuring the final build matches the initial spatial concept.
