Our approach to architecture is defined by a process of discovery. We believe that truly meaningful spaces are not forced into existence, but are revealed through a patient dialogue with a building's history, the land, and the climate.

My work seeks to create spaces that are alive. Here at IF.BE, the revived 147-year-old ice factory, the central courtyard becomes a stage for performance, a place where the community can gather and engage with art, history, and each other under the gaze of a resurrected banyan tree.

I believe the first step in architecture is to be silent and listen to the space. This video explains my process, which is less about design and more like archaeology or even an orthopedic procedure. It is a painstaking, reflexive journey of discovery, pinning, and suturing to bring a structure's history into dialogue with the present.

In the restoration of the Wageshwar Temple, the goal was not simply to rebuild, but to draw light into its ancient heart. These shafts of sunlight are not an accident; they are a deliberate part of the design, creating a direct and moving connection between the structure and the spirit.

This graphic shows the anatomy of our intervention. It illustrates the surgical retrofits and structural supports needed to stabilize the old ice factory, blending technical drawings with before and after imagery. It is a map of how we suture the 'Found' to the 'Made' with both respect and precision.

A restored space becomes a place for learning. I find great meaning in walking students through a completed project like IF.BE, sharing the stories embedded in the walls and the philosophical choices that guided the adaptive reuse. It is about passing on the custodianship of our built heritage.

The banyan tree was the protagonist of the IF.BE project. This video discusses the 'why' behind the restoration, a search for a home for creative people in a city starved of cultural spaces. It is about repurposing our industrial heritage and creating an equitable dialogue with history.

The philosophy is grounded in tangible work. This is the reality of restoration: the slow, patient scraping of plaster to reveal 150-year-old brickwork and the skilled welding of steel to support failing structures. This hands-on approach is fundamental to the honesty of the final space.

The entrance to IF.BE at night, now a beacon in Mumbai's heritage precinct. What was once a decaying factory is now a public space for discourse and art, serving as a living example of sustainability through preservation. It is a seed for urban regeneration.

About Featured

We treat every restoration as a forensic examination rather than a design exercise. When you visit our sites, you will not find generic fixes; instead, you will see original brickwork preserved alongside steel interventions that reinforce structural integrity without erasing the past. Whether you are dealing with a century-old mansion or a derelict industrial site, our approach is to peel back layers to uncover the building's true potential before we add anything new.

Architecture should be an act of discovery. We often find that the most compelling design choices are already present in the site, hidden under layers of plaster or decay. Our process begins with silence, where we map the structural deviations and historical context of a site before placing a single sketch on paper.

Take our work at the IF.BE ice factory in Ballard Estate. Instead of clearing the site for a new build, we chose to stabilize the existing walls, repair the North-light trusses, and allow the century-old brickwork to dictate the atmosphere. This is our version of sustainable development, keeping the embodied energy of the structure alive while adapting it for modern use. We utilize steel plates and lime mortar to reinforce historic fabric, ensuring that our interventions are respectful of the original craftsmanship.

Whether we are handling structural restoration, architectural glazing, or mechanical systems for gallery-grade spaces, our goal remains constant: to make the space feel right. We invite you to discuss how we can apply this forensic approach to your next property.

We view ourselves as custodians, not just architects. By listening to the inherent rhythm of a space, we create environments that feel natural and grounded, bridging the gap between historical architecture and modern utility.
