Award-Winning Adaptive Reuse and Heritage Projects
A selection of our most meaningful projects, showcasing our commitment to heritage conservation, sustainable adaptive reuse, and public architecture.
Our vision for the Solina Silk Factory in Srinagar, where we introduced a modern sculptural staircase and comfortable lounge area within the original industrial brick structure. This space is designed to be a central hub, blending heritage conservation with contemporary community life.
We reimagined the exterior of the Reshamkhana (Solina Silk Factory) as a lively public courtyard. This rendering shows how the preserved industrial heritage buildings now frame a new space for community interaction, outdoor cafes, and cultural events.
For the Appaswamy Arcus project in Chennai, we drew inspiration from the city's rich architectural history. This design concept highlights our approach to creating modern residential spaces that are deeply rooted in their traditional context.
We were honored to receive the Commendation Trophy at the Indian Institute of Architects Nationals for our Nirbhaya Center project. This award is a testament to our team's collaborative effort in creating meaningful public architecture.
An interior view of the repurposed Solina Silk Factory, envisioned as an exhibition hall for local Kashmiri artisans. The design respects the building's original volume and light, using modern geometric ceiling panels to define the space without compromising its industrial soul.
A look at the talented individuals who make up Architecture Dialogue. Our collaborative approach is central to our practice, and we believe our collective passion drives the success of every project we undertake.
We were proud to see our award-winning design for the Solina Silk Factory featured on ArchDaily, a leading global architecture platform. This international recognition highlights the relevance of industrial heritage regeneration in India.
About this collection
When we approach an old building, we don't just see a site to renovate. We see a conversation between what was there and what could be. Whether it is the industrial heritage of the Solina Silk Factory or a new public institution, our process starts by mapping the existing structural DNA before we sketch a single line. This ensures that every intervention—be it a glass partition or a steel staircase—honors the building's original volume while making it functional for today's needs.
Architecture is not just about building from scratch; it is about continuing a story. Our approach begins with a thorough diagnostic phase, which we call a Heritage Audit. Before suggesting any design changes, we map the structural health, assess regulatory limits, and document the architectural character. This rigorous foundation allows us to propose solutions that balance modern utility with historical integrity.
At the Solina Silk Factory in Srinagar, this meant transforming a 22-acre industrial site into a vibrant cultural hub without losing its distinct character. For our award-winning work on the Nirbhaya Center in Bengaluru, our focus was on creating a safe, welcoming public space that functions as a civic anchor.
Our process is never a one-way street. It is a dialogue between the architect, the site's history, and the future users. When we repurpose a structure, we focus on material conservation—salvaging old bricks and timber where possible—and technical integration, such as routing modern MEP systems to minimize visual clutter. This disciplined, team-led methodology is what earned us accolades at the IIA Nationals and the JK AYA awards. Whether you are looking to restore a heritage property or reimagine an underutilized building for contemporary use, our team brings this same rigor to every project.
