About Special Workshops & Clayful Dates
When you book a Clayful Date here, you aren't just sitting across from each other; you are both at the wheels, usually getting clay everywhere and laughing about the process. My co-teacher Badshah and I are there to guide your hands, ensuring that even if you have never touched clay, you both walk away with two finished, fired pieces that you created together.
Pottery is rarely just about the object you make. At Maati Sona, we focus on the rhythm of the wheel and the tactile satisfaction of hand-building.
The Clayful Date Experience
If you are looking for a unique outing in Bangalore, this is it. Unlike a typical cafe date, this gives you a shared activity to focus on. We provide the aprons, the clay, and the patience. You get to experience the wheel side-by-side, which is often messy, hilarious, and deeply rewarding. By the end of the session, you will have a tangible memento of your time together.
Festive and Seasonal Workshops
We also love the rhythm of the Indian calendar. Our annual Ganesha-making workshops are a studio favorite. Using natural clay and traditional hand-building techniques, we guide you to sculpt your own version of Ganesha. It is a slow, mindful process that connects you back to your roots, perfect for families or individuals looking to start a new festive tradition.
What to Expect
- No Pressure: Everything at the studio is about the experience, not the result. If your bowl is wobbly, that is just its personality.
- Small Batches: We keep groups between 6 to 10 participants to ensure everyone gets enough attention at the wheel.
- The Process: After you finish, we handle the trimming, glazing, and double firing (up to 1200 degrees Celsius). Your pieces will be ready for pickup 3 to 4 weeks later.
