The Foundations of Karate
Every champion starts with the basics. This is where we build your foundation, covering fundamental stances, punches, and the physical conditioning required for excellence.
Karate has two parts: Kata, the form, and Kumite, the fight. We master both to be complete martial artists.
These are the basic tools of karate. Learn the names and proper form for fundamental punches like Oi Zuki and kicks like Mae Geri.
A strong house needs a strong foundation. These are the essential karate stances, or Dachi, that provide power and stability for all techniques.
Your body is your weapon, so it must be strong. This is a sample daily workout routine for building strength, stamina, and flexibility.
About this collection
We do not train on hard concrete floors here. Our dojo in Kudlu is equipped with 25mm interlocking EVA foam mats to protect your joints while you learn your first stances. You will be performing high-volume conditioning, starting with my '50-rep' protocol for pushups and squats, so we make sure the physical setup is safe from day one.
Kihon (basics) is where your journey starts. If your foundation is weak, your whole technique will fail. I personally monitor every student as you learn your Oi Zuki (straight punch) and Mae Geri (front kick). We focus heavily on Dachi (stances) like Zenkutsu Dachi and Kiba Dachi because stability is your first line of defense.
We also work on the '50 Set' of conditioning. This is 50 reps of pushups, squats, and crunches to build the stamina you need for longer sessions. This is not a gym workout. It is specific karate conditioning. By the time you move to advanced forms or sparring, your body will know exactly what to do.
Classes are limited to 15-20 students to ensure I can correct your posture before bad habits set in. Whether you are training for fitness or planning to compete, you need to understand the mechanics first. Oss.
