JhaJi Store is more than a business; it is a collective of over 70 women from Mithila bringing our heritage to your table.

This Women's Day, we celebrate stories like Poonam's. She came to us with a dream and today, she leads our production unit. Her journey is a testament to the power of women supporting women.

This is the power of women supporting women. I believed in Poonam, and today she is an integral part of our JhaJi Store family. When women uplift each other, we all rise together.

About Our Team & Our Vision

Poonam’s journey from a homemaker in Thalwara to leading our production unit in Darbhanga is the heart of what we do. She is one of over 70 women who handle every step, from sourcing fresh ingredients in Mithila to hand-cutting vegetables, ensuring that every jar carries the authentic taste of home.

We believe food tastes different when it is made with intent. Every jar of our pickle or chutney is sun-dried, hand-cut, and slow-cooked in pure mustard oil by women who know these recipes as their own. We do not use machines to mimic the texture of home-cooked food. Our traditional silbatta style of grinding creates the chunky, authentic texture that defines true Bihari cuisine.

When you buy from us, you are not just getting a jar of pickle. You are supporting a rural economy in Bihar. These women are the custodians of Mithila’s culinary history, ensuring that the taste of our nani-dadi’s kitchen reaches households across India. Our vision is simple. We want to make traditional Bihari food accessible while empowering rural women to stand on their own feet, one jar at a time.
