The Homepick Story: Our Journey Behind Authentic Indian Pickles
Ever wonder what goes into making a jar of pickle taste like home? Here is the story of how we went from a family kitchen to preserving heritage recipes for your table.
This is the story of the moment I decided to take the leap. After seeing the demand for my mom's pickles, I gave a sample to a local store. Their immediate order was the trigger I needed to turn this passion into a business.
Rebranding is a big step, and I had my doubts. I wasn't sure if people would recognize our new look. So, I asked around, and the fresh, positive feedback gave me the confidence that we were on the right path.
New look, same soul. We were so thrilled to launch our new packaging. It's a refreshed identity, but the heart of Homepick remains the same: traditional recipes, authentic flavours, and the love of generations.
We undertook a huge packaging glow-up with over 50 new labels. This visual overhaul helped unify our brand identity and made our products stand out on the shelf, all while keeping the same taste you love.
This is what a bulk order day looks like for us. Our team works diligently, hand-packing each jar to ensure the authentic taste of home reaches you perfectly.
A bulk order of our pickles is off to Canada! It's a proud moment for us to see our team's hard work crossing borders and bringing a taste of India to families abroad.
All hands on deck for an export order! Our dedicated team is the backbone of Homepick, ensuring every international shipment is prepared with care and precision.
4500 jars dispatched to the USA! Seeing our products fill up a truck like this is a testament to the love and demand for authentic Indian flavours worldwide.
Pickles make for thoughtful gifts and donations. We've had customers order hundreds of jars to share joy, from philanthropic donations to large-scale summer gifting.
Our recipes are our heritage, passed down with care from our Nanis and Dadis. This is the foundation of Homepick, celebrating the love and wisdom in our mothers' cooking.
About The Homepick Story: Behind the Jars
We do not use machines. Every single mango is hand-cut and sun-dried in small batches, just like Nani used to do. It means our production can be slow, especially during rainy seasons, but it is the only way to get that authentic texture that mass-produced brands miss.
It started with a simple question: why do all pickles taste the same? I was working in a corporate role when I realized I was missing the tang and spice of the achaar my mom made at home. That frustration led to the first batch of Homepick, made in our kitchen and tested by family and friends.
We believe that if you want a pickle to taste like it came from a Gujarati or Maharashtrian home, you cannot rely on machines. Our process is intentionally slow. We hand-cut the vegetables and sun-dry them for days. This natural curing process is exactly how our Dadis and Nanis made it. Yes, this means our production capacity is limited, and sometimes we deal with raw material shortages, but we never compromise the quality just to scale up faster.
When we went through our recent rebrand, I was nervous. I showed dozens of label designs to friends and family, worried that changing our look would break the connection you have with our jars. The feedback was clear: you cared about the taste inside, not just the sticker on the outside. That realization—that our relationship is built on trust and flavour—is what keeps us going.
Whether you are in Mumbai or shipping a box of memories to Canada or the USA, our team packs every jar by hand. We are not just selling a condiment; we are sharing a piece of our heritage. If you have a family recipe or a specific flavour you grew up with, tell us. We are always learning, and your stories are what help us improve.
Homepick
I am Chintan. I started Homepick because I missed the real taste of home, and I figured you probably did too. It is just me and a small team bringing those Nani-approved, sun-dried recipes back to life, one jar at a time.
