We do not just perform poses. We use props, anatomy, and philosophy to help you build a practice that makes sense for your body, whether you are recovering from an injury or training for a sport.

This feature in The New York Times, highlighting my work with tennis professional Rohan Bopanna, speaks to the power of Iyengar yoga. It is not about miracles, but about dedicated, intelligent practice. With time, effort, and conviction, this method creates real, tangible change for athletes and everyone else.

My teaching is built on precision and clarity. Here, I use the analogy of "imaginary chopsticks" to help a student understand how to engage their ankle bones correctly in Adho Mukha Svanasana. This detailed approach, focusing on anatomy and sensation, is how we build a stable and intelligent foundation from the ground up.

For athletes, recovery is as crucial as training. In this workshop for professional tennis players, we use chairs for a supported Viparita Dandasana, a pose that helps restore energy and release tension in the spine and shoulders. This demonstrates how props make restorative work both deep and accessible.

I have developed a specialized short course to support women through their pre-menstrual phase. This practice is designed to be restful and supportive, using specific asanas to address common discomforts. It shows how yoga can be adapted to work with our body's natural cycles, not against them.

Teaching is a process of mutual learning. During a workshop in Bogota, Colombia, I guide a student in Supta Padangusthasana using a strap. This hands-on adjustment helps her find greater length and stability, showcasing the personalized and supportive nature of my sessions, no matter where in the world we practice.

"Why are instructions in Iyengar yoga so intricate?" Because every detail matters. In this clip, you can hear the specific guidance I provide during a partner-assisted backbend. This precision ensures safety and helps the student experience the pose with a new level of awareness and depth.

It is a pleasure to bring yoga to the summer workshop at Nrityagram, a renowned Odissi dance village. Working with these dancers has been a profound learning experience for me, as we explore how asana practice can support and enhance the intricate movements of their art form.

As B.K.S. Iyengar wrote, we must think of ourselves as "graceful and expanding." This is the feeling I aim to cultivate in my therapeutic sessions. Here, a student uses a backbend bench and chair to find release and openness, translating lofty philosophy into a tangible, physical experience.

About Featured

You might be used to yoga classes that are about just moving, but here we work differently. We use props like trestles, ropes, and blocks as tools to map your body's structural alignment rather than as shortcuts. Whether you are dealing with a recurring sports injury or just need to understand why a pose feels impossible, I break it down into micro-movements so you actually feel the change in your muscles and breath.

The Iyengar Method in Practice

My approach is rooted in the Iyengar method, which means we prioritize precision and safety. Props are central to this. When I guide you into a pose, I am not asking you to simply mimic a shape. I am asking you to use blocks, chairs, and ropes to access your skeletal structure, creating space where there was once compression.

Why the Detail Matters

'Action is movement with intelligence,' as Mr. Iyengar said. In our sessions, we address the specific anatomy involved in your movement. If you are a tennis player or a dancer, we work on stability for your feet and ankles. If you are experiencing pain, we look at the root of the imbalance rather than just treating the symptom. You will learn to use 'imaginary chopsticks' to engage your ankle bones or find length through traction—details that turn a simple pose into a deep, therapeutic experience.

My Philosophy

I spent years teaching in the chaos of New York before moving to Bengaluru, and I brought the Gurukul tradition with me. This is not a place for 'perfect' Instagram postures. It is a space for honest, sustained effort. Whether you join my Foundation Course, a therapeutic consultation, or an athlete-focused workshop, you can expect a teacher who asks questions, checks your progress, and insists on you understanding the 'why' behind every breath.

Located in Cooke Town, I welcome anyone—from professional athletes to those just beginning their journey—to explore what yoga actually does for the mind and body.
