A Day at Hastam Montessori: Hands-On Learning in Action

Here, your child’s hands do the work while their mind does the growing. We create a home-like space for 2 to 6 year olds to explore, move, and learn at their own pace, naturally.

This is what our mixed-age environment is all about. Here, an older child, one of our alumni, gently guides his younger sister on her first day, helping her with an animal puzzle. It’s a beautiful moment of natural leadership and care.

Deep concentration is a hallmark of Montessori learning. This child is fully engaged with the Pink Tower and Broad Stair, classic sensorial materials that help develop visual discrimination of size and dimension.

There's immense pride in doing things for yourself. This child is enjoying a snack she prepared all on her own using a mortar and pestle, a perfect example of our practical life skills activities.

I believe in a gentle start. A parent sits with their child, offering comfort and support as he explores a new puzzle. This partnership is key to building a bridge of trust between home and school.

Learning from peers is one of the most powerful aspects of our mixed-age classroom. Here, a four-year-old voluntarily shows a two-year-old how to work with the knobbed cylinder blocks, building empathy and social skills.

This is our prepared environment. The low, open shelves are filled with carefully chosen Montessori materials, inviting children to explore independently and choose activities that spark their interest.

Welcome to Hastam. Our entrance, shaded by a beautiful tree, reflects our connection to nature and our local roots, with our name presented in both English and Kannada.

About this collection

You won't find rigid desks or rote worksheets here. Instead, you will see a two-year-old mastering a lock box or a four-year-old teaching a peer how to use cylinders, all within a 5500 sqft campus designed to let children move freely. Our environment is deliberately low-tech and high-touch because we believe that what a child builds with their hands, they understand with their heart.

At Hastam Montessori, we view the child as a natural explorer. Our campus on Kanakapura Road is more than a school. It is a prepared environment designed to foster independence from the moment a child walks through our gate.

The Prepared Environment

Every material on our shelves has a purpose. Whether it is the Pink Tower for visual discrimination or our bead bars for early math, these classic Montessori tools are placed at a child's height. This layout invites them to choose their work, allowing them to follow their internal rhythm rather than a forced schedule. We believe that when a child chooses their activity, their capacity for deep concentration naturally follows.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

We extend learning beyond books. Our campus includes a terrace garden, an indoor fish pond, and a climbing wall. Children observe life cycles firsthand, from watching sunbirds nest to harvesting vegetables from our garden patches. This connection to nature provides essential sensory input that reinforces the practical life skills we teach inside, such as pouring, cleaning, and snack preparation.

A Mixed-Age Community

Our classrooms bring 2 to 6 year olds together. This creates a natural mentorship dynamic where the older children gain confidence by assisting younger peers, and younger children find inspiration in the work of the older ones. We have seen this foster a genuine sense of empathy and community that is often missing in age-segregated settings.

We understand that starting preschool is a major milestone for parents and children. That is why our transition process is gentle, allowing parents to stay close until the child feels completely at home.

At Hastam, we see school as an extension of your home rather than a rigid institution. We aren't here to push academics. We are here to support your child’s natural curiosity, whether they are working with beads for math or tending to our terrace garden.
