Behind the Design: The GA Design Process
A home is more than just a final, polished picture. This is a look at the team, the site reality, and the decision-making that happens before the photos are taken.
Our design director, Ritu Goregaoker, shares her philosophy on interior design as a form of storytelling. For us, a home is a canvas for a client's memories, values, and dreams, and we use materials, color, and light as our vocabulary to tell that story.
A conversation between our designers about the thought process behind a parents' bedroom. We discuss key decisions like using rounded furniture for safety and selecting a unique book-matched veneer to serve as a highlight piece.
Designing dreams isn't as silent as it seems. This video shows the reality of a worksite, from the noise of craftsmanship to on-the-spot decisions. It's a process of drills, dust, and dedication to bring a design to life.
Brainstorming over minute details on site. Here, our principal architect works with the team to ensure the placement of hexagonal tiles is just right. It's this attention to detail that defines our work.
Design is not a solo act; it's a 45-piece orchestra. We are proud to introduce the incredible team at GA Design who make all our projects possible.
Our design director, Ritu Goregaoker, presenting on "Storytelling in Design" at an industry event. We believe in sharing our knowledge and contributing to the larger design conversation.
Ritu Goregaoker discusses her perspective on cosmopolitan design. It's about being globally inspired but deeply personal, honoring tradition while embracing change, and creating layered spaces that reflect a client's soul, not just trends.
In a conversation with Siemens, our design director Shami Goregaoker discusses the importance of planning kitchens around appliances. She also shares her biggest pet peeve in kitchen design: the unnecessary masala pull-out. "Aath inches bacha hai, uska kya karein?" is not our style.
Shami Goregaoker explains her process for designing bespoke furniture, like this unique console for an entrance lobby. The goal was to create a piece that was both highly utilitarian for storage and an artistic statement that sparks curiosity.
How do we stay updated on new technology? In this clip, Shami Goregaoker explains how we collaborate with vendors like Siemens to learn about the latest innovations, like self-ventilated hobs, which allow us to design kitchens without obstructive chimneys.
About Behind the Design: Our Process & Team
What you see in photos is the result, but the real work happens in the dust of a construction site. It is about making sure the hexagonal tile layout is perfect or finding the right way to integrate a chimney into a window view without sacrificing aesthetics. We believe in being hands-on, because the best solutions are found on-site through debate and adaptation, not just on a screen.
At GA Design, we view every project as a narrative. A home starts as a blank canvas, and materials like stone, wood, and light are our vocabulary. But writing that story requires a team. We are a collective of architects, 3D visualizers, and craftsmen—a 45-piece orchestra, as we like to call it.
When you walk through our projects, you see the polish. But behind that, there is a process grounded in reality. Whether it is brainstorming with vendors on the latest smart appliances or debating the placement of a structural column, our approach is always about 'why'. If a detail does not have a purpose, it does not belong in your home.
We do not just sketch and leave. We are there, on-site, solving the real-world puzzles of Mumbai apartments. We want to hear your quirks and your culture. We want to know if you need a place for your morning prayer or if you are a cook who needs a specific kitchen layout. Your home is not a catalog item; it is a space that should grow with you. Our goal is to create layers, meaning, and a space that feels distinctly yours.
