Painting is my way to capture emotions that words miss. From vibrant elderly faces to deep spiritual themes, I use oils to bring stories to life on canvas.

'The Red Turbaned Soul,' an oil on canvas piece. I used a palette knife and expressive brushwork to create a sense of movement and energy, contrasting the fiery red with the deep, thoughtful expression of the subject.

This oil portrait was about capturing a fleeting moment and a specific mood. The dramatic lighting from the side creates strong shadows, highlighting the texture of the hair and the thoughtful upward glance.

This is a self-portrait I created in oil colours that won an award from The Art Society of India. I played with a warm, saturated background to make the portrait pop, focusing on a realistic yet expressive representation.

A quick oil portrait study on canvas. Sometimes the most spontaneous paintings capture the most energy. Here, I focused on the form and the vibrant red of the turban with loose, confident brushstrokes.

An oil portrait where the bright yellow turban is the hero. I love painting elderly faces; their expressions hold so much life and experience. This piece is a celebration of that wisdom and character.

Another oil portrait study, this time focusing on a striking green turban. The contrast between the dark skin tones and the bright fabric creates a powerful visual, and the direct gaze of the subject is full of intensity.

A close-up detail of my oil painting 'Adhyaẏana'. This shot highlights the detailed brushwork on the face, the tilak on the forehead, and the texture of the curly hair, showing the level of realism I strive for.

Another detail from 'Adhyaẏana'. Here you can see the careful rendering of the hand and the rudraksha bracelet, along with the soft folds of the green and beige fabric, all painted with oil on canvas.

About Oil Portraits: Soulful & Expressive

Since I build my oil portraits in multiple layers of glaze and impasto, I need about 3 to 5 weeks to ensure the paint dries perfectly before shipping. I send them as rolled canvases to keep them safe, so you will need to get them stretched at a local frame shop once they arrive.

Oil painting is a slow process, but that is where the sukoon is. I build up textures using palette knives and multiple layers, which is why your painting won't be ready overnight. It takes weeks for the oils to dry properly before I can safely pack them in a PVC pipe for shipping.

Whether I am capturing the deep wisdom in the eyes of an elder or the quiet energy of a spiritual figure, I focus on the light and shadows that define their story. My work, including award-winning pieces like 'Adhyaẏana', follows this technique of glazing and impasto to create depth that lasts for years. When you receive the rolled canvas, it is essentially a blank slate ready for your home. You just need to take it to a local framer to get it stretched on a wooden frame. If you have a specific scene or a memory you want to transform into a painting, share it with me and let's get started.

Main Faizan, Banaras se. For me, art is about capturing the vibe of a person or a moment that stays with you. My oil portraits are not just about likeness, they are about that internal energy that makes a subject real.
