Art is a journey, and while I paint for the 'sukoon', these milestones remind me that the stories I tell on canvas are connecting with others.

I am so happy to have received the First Prize from the Lalit Kala Akademi. Holding this award next to my displayed work is a moment I will always cherish. Thank you for all the support!

This is the watercolour painting that won the first prize at the Lalit Kala Akademi competition. It depicts a moment of prayer and tribute, and I'm so glad the emotion of the piece connected with the judges.

Another look at my Lalit Kala competition work. This painting was a heartfelt tribute, and I used the colours of the Indian flag in the background to add another layer of meaning.

I am honored to have my watercolour painting of the Kailash Temple at Ellora selected for the Third Kolkata International Art Exhibition 2025. It's a dream to be part of an event with artists from around the globe.

I am so proud that my oil painting 'Terukkuttu' was selected for the 88th All India Exhibition for Arts. This piece explores the vibrant Tamil street theatre form, and I focused on the dramatic colours and expressions used to portray characters.

Thank you to Abir Pothi for featuring my work and writing about my passion for painting the elderly. It's an honor to see my art and my philosophy shared on such a respected platform.

About Awards & Recognition

Winning awards like the Lalit Kala Akademi prize isn't just about the trophy for me. It is about knowing that the emotions I put onto the canvas—whether it is the quiet 'sukoon' of a prayer or the vibrant energy of Tamil street theatre—actually reached someone else. When a jury or an exhibition curator picks my work, it tells me that my focus on raw, honest human stories is on the right track.

Every painting in this collection carries a piece of my personal history and the diverse cultures I try to understand. When my oil painting 'Terukkuttu' was selected for the 88th All India Exhibition, it was not just a win for me, but a recognition of the traditional art forms that often get overlooked. Similarly, having my watercolour work of the Kailash Temple at the Kolkata International Art Exhibition allowed me to share a slice of our heritage on a global platform.

Recognition like being featured by Abir Pothi validates my obsession with capturing the elderly and their stories. These milestones are a reminder to keep pushing boundaries. Whether I am experimenting with the textures of oil paints for deep, spiritual portraits or using watercolours to map the lines on a weathered face, the goal remains the same: honesty.

I believe art should not be confined to galleries. It should be in your homes, sparking conversations. If you connect with the style seen in these award-winning pieces, I am open to discussing commissions. Whether you want an oil portrait for your living room or a charcoal sketch that captures a specific memory, I bring the same level of detail and passion to every project. Let us create something that feels real.

I am Faizan, an artist from Banaras. For me, art is a way to find peace, whether I am painting the soulful faces of the elderly or capturing spiritual moments on canvas. I just follow the process, believe in the story, and let the art do the talking.
