Soulful Portraits on Canvas
Every face tells a story, and every story deserves to be painted with depth and intention.
'Visalakshi' is a large-scale acrylic portrait of a woman I met on my travels. Her eyes hold a universe of stories, of love, power, and yearning. This is the depth I aim for in every custom portrait commission.
This is 'The Tourist Guide,' a portrait of a man I met in Udaipur whose resilience and hope inspired me deeply. Using a monochrome palette, I focused on the texture of his skin and the light in his eyes to tell his story of strength.
A quick portrait study I named 'Rathi,' of a woman I met in a village in Haryana. Her smile was so pure and her eyes so soft. This piece was a practice in capturing that fleeting, gentle expression.
The eyes are where the soul of a portrait lives. Here, I am carefully adding layers and reflections to bring life and emotion to the eye of 'The Tourist Guide.'

About Soulful Portraits on Canvas
I spend the first 30 minutes of our collaboration on a virtual call just listening to the story behind your portrait. Whether it is a tribute to a loved one or a moment you want to preserve forever, I do not start with a rigid plan. I start with our conversation, letting the emotion guide the brushwork.
My Approach to Portraiture
I believe a portrait should breathe. When you commission a painting, we are not just exchanging a photo for a canvas. We are entering into a dialogue where I translate your memories, fears, and hopes into textured, heavy-body acrylics.
The Creative Process
My process is intuitive. I prefer to work from a place of feeling rather than just visual copying. After our initial alignment call, I build layers of texture on the canvas—this is where the history and character of the subject emerge. I focus heavily on the eyes and the play of light on skin, as these elements carry the soul of the subject.
What You Will Receive
Each canvas is gallery-wrapped on triple-primed cotton and pine wood. When I finish a piece, I provide:
- A Signed Certificate of Authenticity: Proof of the original work.
- A Handwritten Story Card: A note detailing the emotional intent behind the portrait.
- Protective Varnish: A double coat of high-quality varnish to ensure the painting remains protected from dust and UV light for years.
