Every face tells a story, and every story deserves to be painted with depth and intention.

'Visalakshi' is a large-scale acrylic portrait of a woman I met on my travels. Her eyes hold a universe of stories, of love, power, and yearning. This is the depth I aim for in every custom portrait commission.

This is 'The Tourist Guide,' a portrait of a man I met in Udaipur whose resilience and hope inspired me deeply. Using a monochrome palette, I focused on the texture of his skin and the light in his eyes to tell his story of strength.

A quick portrait study I named 'Rathi,' of a woman I met in a village in Haryana. Her smile was so pure and her eyes so soft. This piece was a practice in capturing that fleeting, gentle expression.

The eyes are where the soul of a portrait lives. Here, I am carefully adding layers and reflections to bring life and emotion to the eye of 'The Tourist Guide.'

A macro shot of the brushwork on the eye. The texture is built up with many layers of black, white, and grey acrylics to create a sense of realism and depth.

A close-up showing the textured brushstrokes on the forehead. This technique helps to convey the history and character etched into a person's face.

Another detail shot of the black and white portrait, focusing on the interplay of light and shadow that gives the painting its dramatic feel.

This video shows the process of painting 'Rathi.' From the initial sketch and blocking in colors to the final delicate details on her face, you can see how a portrait comes to life.

Adding the final touches to Rathi's portrait. Capturing her dreamy smile and the light in her eyes was my main focus for this piece.

The finished portrait study on the easel. Even quick studies like this are an important part of my practice, honoring the people who touch my heart.

About Soulful Portraits on Canvas

I spend the first 30 minutes of our collaboration on a virtual call just listening to the story behind your portrait. Whether it is a tribute to a loved one or a moment you want to preserve forever, I do not start with a rigid plan. I start with our conversation, letting the emotion guide the brushwork.
