Every place has a mood. When I paint the ghats of Varanasi or the streets of Kolkata, I am not just recreating the view; I am trying to lock that specific feeling of being there onto paper. Landscape painting is about capturing the light, the hustle, and the quiet moments that people usually walk past.
The process and the medium
My process often starts outdoors. I love joining sketchmeets to draw live, where I can actually feel the breeze and see the changing shadows. These quick studies help me understand the soul of a location before I bring it to the studio for a detailed watercolor work.
