About Awards & Media Features
The Kohler Bold Design Award recognition for 'Cha Angadi' was a significant moment for our studio, not just for the trophy, but for the validation of our approach to compact retail spaces. We focused on turning a basic kiosk into a functional, engaging tea shop by treating the metal structure as the primary design element, proving that small footprints can deliver a high impact when planning is prioritized over ornamentation.
When our studio is recognized, it is usually because the project successfully bridged a practical constraint with a creative solution. The 'Cha Angadi' kiosk is a prime example. In retail architecture, the challenge is often maximizing utility in a tiny footprint without compromising on the user experience. By focusing on metal fabrication and smart spatial planning, we proved that retail design does not require a large budget or massive space to create a lasting impression.
Similarly, the commendation from the Indian Institute of Interior Designers (IIID) for our own workspace, the Int-Hab studio, highlighted the importance of 'built versus unbuilt' spaces. We designed our studio to reflect our core principles: minimalism, light, and interaction. An office is not just a place to work; it is an environment that should facilitate conversation and flow. Seeing these projects featured in Antarya magazine alongside peers reaffirmed our belief that if you prioritize functionality and environmental harmony, the aesthetics follow naturally. We do not design for awards; we design for the people who live and work in these spaces every day.
