A Day at the Gurukul: Fine Arts Classes in Jayanagar
Step inside our Jayanagar studio where art is a daily practice, not a hobby. See how we combine disciplined techniques with a calm, supportive environment to help you find your unique artistic voice.
New beginnings for our latest batch. The journey starts with strong foundations, warm-up exercises, and conversations that build a creative and supportive classroom environment.
A glimpse of the week at our Gurukul. From intense live model head studies and watercolor explorations to dedicated sessions for our junior artists, the space is always alive with creative energy.
Our weekend classes are calling. Here, students take a break from their weekly routine to dive into art, practicing everything from fundamental cube sketches to watercolor still life and intricate folk art.
On International Women's Day, we celebrate the creative force of our students. The classroom is filled with women who are artists, dreamers, and changemakers, each focused on their artistic sadhana.
A wide-angle view of our classroom during exams for the Diploma in Fine Arts. The space is designed for focus, with students fully engaged in demonstrating the skills they have developed.
A black and white shot of an exam session, highlighting the timeless nature of artistic practice. Students are focused on a live model study, a classical method for honing observational skills.
Students work diligently during an exam, sketching a bust setup. This practice tests their understanding of form, light, and shadow, which are core components of our sketching foundation course.
A still life arrangement prepared for a drawing class. We teach students to find beauty in everyday objects, studying their form, texture, and relationship to light and shadow.
About A Day at the Gurukul
You won't find competitive pressure here. Instead, we start every session with an invocation, creating a quiet space where you can focus on form, anatomy, or painting techniques without the anxiety of getting it perfect. As one of our gurus often says, don't rush for the eraser—those 'wrong' lines are often where your real style begins to emerge.
At Fine Arts Gurukul, we treat art as a sadhana—a disciplined daily practice that requires patience and humility. Our Jayanagar studio is designed to strip away the noise of city life, offering a grounded space for students to focus.
Whether you are studying for our Fine Arts Diploma or joining a short-term sketching workshop, the environment remains the same: steady, focused, and free from the distraction of competition.
What happens in a session?
You might see students working on live model head studies, using plaster casts to understand classical light and shadow, or focusing on perspective grids. We prioritize building a foundation before moving to color. You will learn to see beyond the surface—mastering anatomy, geometric decomposition, and value study before you ever pick up a brush.
We believe that if you follow the process, the technique follows. You will find us working with traditional dry media like charcoal and graphite for months before transitioning to the structural watercolor or acrylic modules. It is not just about making a pretty picture; it is about learning how to see the world like an artist.
