I have been in the Mumbai furniture industry since 2010. Here is the honest truth about why custom-made pieces are a better investment than mass-produced, ready-made alternatives.

Should you buy custom-made or ready-made furniture? I explain that for your dream home, custom is always better because you can see the materials, control the design, and ensure the quality is built to last.

I share my honest opinion on big brands like IKEA. While they offer cheap and quick options, the material is often low-quality particle board, and the furniture is not built to last like custom-made pieces.

The inside of your furniture is more important than the outside. Here, I'm showing the different combinations of foam I use, from high-density bonded foam for support to softer foam for comfort, so you know you're getting quality that lasts.

I talk about the huge scope in the furniture industry in India. I encourage more Marathi entrepreneurs to enter this business, as there is a large market for quality, locally-made furniture.

A teaser from my interview where I discuss the realities of the furniture industry, the problem with fake ads, and the importance of choosing quality, custom-made furniture over mass-produced items.

A short clip where I talk about the importance of 'mehnat' (hard work) and how our Marathi community can grow in the business world.

I believe our Marathi community should come together and support each other in business.

About From The Expert's Desk

Don't just chase low prices on social media. I see too many families lose money on furniture that looks good in photos but falls apart within months because of poor-quality foam and hidden frame materials. My work is about showing you what goes inside—the wood, the foam density, and the structure—so you know exactly what you are paying for.

In the furniture business, there is a lot of 'jhol' (messy practice). You see Instagram ads for sofas at impossibly low prices, but those deals usually hide low-quality materials. When you buy custom, you pay for durability.

I focus on three things that define true longevity:

  1. The Frame: We use chemically treated Sal or Marandi wood with 18mm commercial plywood. No particle board. This is the difference between a sofa that wobbles in a year and one that stays solid for a decade.

  2. The Foam: I use a 'sandwich' technique for seating. It involves combining high-density bonded foam for structure, 40D HR foam for resilience, and soft foam for comfort. It ensures the seat doesn't sag after just a few months of use.

  3. Transparency: When you order from me, you know what goes inside. I encourage you to ask questions about the suspension, the legs, and the fabric quality.

Whether you are looking for a sofa set, a hydraulic bed, or dining furniture, my approach remains the same—real quality, no shortcuts. If you are in Mumbai or need shipping across India, bring me your design or sketch and we will handle the rest.
