Step inside our Oshiwara studio to see how we build furniture. We avoid factory shortcuts, choosing traditional joinery and seasoned wood to craft pieces that last for decades.

Here, one of my skilled artisans is assembling the frame of a chair. This image captures the hands-on approach and precision that goes into every piece of furniture we create.

The raw wooden frame of a chair during the early stages of construction. You can see the curved components and joinery before sanding and finishing, a testament to the solid wood construction.

A stack of semi-finished chair backrests, each showing the traditional joinery techniques I use to ensure strength and durability. This is part of a large order for a hospitality client.

Here I am in my workshop, inspecting a newly constructed live-edge table. I personally oversee the quality of every piece that leaves my studio.

The final finishing touches are crucial. Here, an artisan is carefully applying polish to a set of custom wardrobes, ensuring a smooth and durable surface.

This shot shows the scale of my workshop and our ability to handle large, multi-unit orders for hotels and other commercial projects, while maintaining consistent quality.

About this collection

You might see plenty of finished photos online, but this is how the work actually happens. I do not use factory-made shortcuts. Every chair frame and table base you see here is built using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, reinforced with industrial-grade glue. This process takes longer than standard assembly, but it creates the structural integrity that allows me to offer a 5-year warranty on every piece I build.

At Mdkfk Designs, craftsmanship is not a marketing term, it is the dust in the air. When you choose custom furniture, you are opting out of mass production in favor of a piece that is engineered for your specific needs.

The Materials

I source seasoned solid Teak (Sagwan) and reclaimed wood specifically for their ability to handle humidity, which is vital for the Mumbai climate. Whether you are looking for that classic Mid-Century look or a rugged industrial style, the foundation starts with the quality of the timber.

The Joinery Process

I insist on traditional mortise and tenon joints. These are designed to expand and contract with the wood, which is why my pieces stay sturdy rather than wobbling after a few years of heavy use. For chairs that require flexibility, my team hand-weaves natural rattan cane, a skill that requires precise tensioning to ensure the seat does not sag.

Finishing for Durability

Every piece goes through a rigorous multi-stage finish. Whether we are applying a natural oil finish or a commercial-grade Polyurethane (PU) coating, the goal is to create a surface that resists spills, scratches, and thermal variance. This is especially important for restaurant and cafe clients whose furniture faces constant wear.

Everything is made right here in my Oshiwara workshop. If you have a design in mind—whether it is a replica you saw online or an original idea—we can translate it into a buildable, durable reality.
