Exploring the edges of your comfort zone, safely. Here is a look at the poses we can build toward when we stop chasing perfection and start focusing on movement.

The Standing Flamingo Pose, or a variation of Marichyasana. Bound yoga poses like this require both flexibility and balance, creating a deep sense of internal focus.

Using a chair for Shalabhasana (Locust Pose). Props can help you safely advance your practice, taking your body into a range it can't naturally hold and deepening your breath awareness.

The Fallen Angel pose is a beautiful arm balance that combines a twist with an inversion. It's a testament to the idea that with practice, all is coming.

This video shows the process of learning Fallen Angel. It's a journey of trial and error, especially with wrist intensive poses, but the feeling of finally getting it is incredible.

Hanumanasana, or the front splits, is a deep hip opener. This pose teaches patience and the art of somatic movement, focusing on the internal experience rather than the external result.

A variation of Hanumanasana with arms raised, adding a gentle backbend and opening the chest. Every small adjustment changes the feeling of the pose.

Another angle of the front split, showing the alignment of the hips and the extension through the spine.

Adding a twist to Hanumanasana deepens the stretch along the side body and IT band.

The final expression of the pose, a full forward fold over the front leg in Hanumanasana. This requires significant hamstring flexibility and surrender.

About Advanced Asana Gallery: Strength & Flexibility

You might look at these photos and think, 'I can't do that.' That is completely okay. In my workshops, we use props like chairs and blocks to safely get you into those ranges, so you can build strength without worrying about falling or getting hurt. It is not about nailing the pose perfectly on day one; it is about learning the mechanics so your body feels capable and strong.
