Data-Driven Road Safety & Tactical Urbanism
Streets are defined by movement, but movement needs to be safe. We bridge the gap between raw crash data and urban design to transform dangerous intersections into calm, functional spaces.
The Urban Twist, a sculptural brick column we designed for a major crossroads in Ahmedabad. It serves as an urban marker that is both a tribute to the city's heritage and a modern traffic-calming element.
A daytime view of the Urban Twist, with motion-blurred traffic emphasizing its location at a bustling junction. The sculpture provides a point of visual stability amidst the movement.
The twisted brick column in its wider urban context, surrounded by modern commercial buildings. The design bridges the gap between Ahmedabad's traditional brick architecture and its contemporary growth.
An aerial night view of the junction, with light trails from vehicles swirling around the illuminated Urban Twist sculpture, highlighting its role as a central anchor in the urban landscape.
A long-exposure shot showing the flow of traffic around the Urban Twist. The design of the roundabout and the sculpture itself helps to organize and slow vehicular movement.
A close-up detail of the spiraling brickwork on the Urban Twist. The precise craftsmanship gives a sense of dynamic movement to a simple, traditional material.

About this collection
We don't just add speed bumps or paint lines. Our process starts by digitizing local FIR reports to map actual collision patterns, linking causes like skidding or poor visibility to specific infrastructure flaws. Whether it involves redesigning turning radii at a busy Bengaluru intersection or installing a sculptural landmark that naturally calms traffic, our interventions are evidence-based, data-backed, and built to save lives while reclaiming space for pedestrians.
From Crash Data to Concrete Solutions
Traditional road safety analysis often relies on aggregated numbers that miss the 'why' behind an incident. We approach this differently. By diving into granular FIR data and geolocating crash points, we identify the missing links—weather, visibility, road geometry—that standard reports overlook. This analytical foundation allows us to propose surgical interventions rather than sweeping, ineffective changes.
Our Tactical Toolbox
Safety is built through geometry and clarity. We utilize tactical urbanism—using paint, bollards, and physical markers—to reclaim asphalt and define clear paths for all road users. This might look like a redesigned pedestrian refuge island or a sculptural element that creates a visual anchor, forcing vehicles to slow down at a critical junction.
Bridging Heritage and Modern Flow
Our work extends beyond safety to placemaking. In cities like Ahmedabad, we have integrated heritage-inspired brickwork into junction markers, creating 'Urban Twists' that serve as traffic-calming devices while honoring local context. Every project, whether a high-traffic National Highway junction or a quiet neighbourhood corner, follows a cycle: Data Audit, Stakeholder Liaison, Tactical Implementation, and Post-Intervention Analysis. We believe that a well-designed street is not just an efficient conduit for vehicles, but a safe public space for the people who walk it every day.
Compartment S4
We are a collective of eight friends who see city planning as a conversation, not just a blueprint. We spend as much time on site with local residents and data logs as we do at our drawing boards, ensuring every intersection we redesign actually makes sense for the daily commuter.
