Bringing books to life with puppets, music, and a bit of magic. Whether it's a themed literary party or a weekend storytelling workshop, I create spaces where kids aged 2-16 fall in love with reading.

A glimpse into the energy and happiness of my storytelling sessions. You can see both parents and children completely absorbed in the story, music, and activities. My goal is to create a wholesome, fun-filled morning for the whole family.

Here is an event poster for a storytelling session at a playschool in Noida. These events are more than just stories; they include an art and craft corner, a special reading area, and fun games to make learning a complete experience.

An announcement for one of my musical storytelling sessions in South Delhi. These events are designed for younger children, aged 4 to 7, and feature puppets, music, and a hands-on craft activity to keep them engaged.

This poster is for a 'Storytime' event I hosted in a Noida community clubhouse. I bring my sessions directly to neighborhoods, making it easy for families to join in for a weekend of musical storytelling, reading, and games.

I love introducing children to different forms of storytelling, like Kamishibai, the Japanese art of "paper theater." This poster announces an online session where I use this unique method to tell a wonderful tale with lots of music and masti.

A quick announcement for a free Instagram Live storytime session. I enjoy connecting with families online and sharing the joy of stories with a wider audience, right from the comfort of their homes.

Announcing 'Book Alive', a unique book club I facilitate for little ones aged 3 to 6. In this session, we celebrated the wonderful books of Mo Willems through storytelling, book reading, and an engaging craft worksheet.

About this collection

My sessions are never just me reading aloud. I use a Kamishibai wooden theatre, music, and interactive puppets like my signature Polar Bear to keep even the wiggliest toddlers engaged. Whether we are in a South Delhi clubhouse or hosting a Harry Potter themed event, every child gets hands-on time. They are not just listening, they are part of the story, making it a perfect weekend activity for families looking for something beyond screens.

I started Bukmuk to turn reading into a shared adventure rather than a chore. My approach is rooted in the belief that children learn empathy and courage through the stories they hear.

How I Bring Stories to Life

I combine traditional storytelling with sensory experiences. For younger children, I use music, voice modulation, and colorful puppets to capture their imagination. I also teach Kamishibai, a traditional Japanese paper theater art, which is always a hit for its visual storytelling style.

Events for Every Age

  • Little Listeners (Ages 2-6): We focus on musical storytelling, crafts, and interactive play. It is all about building a foundation for reading through joy and excitement.
  • Themed Book Parties (Ages 8-16): We host immersive events for fans of authors like Sudha Murthy or series like Harry Potter. These include trivia, roleplay, creative writing, and even cosplay.
  • Workshops for Young Writers (Ages 10-17): For older kids, I run small-batch writing workshops. We go from brainstorming plots to editing and finally publishing their work in an anthology.

Why Small Batches Matter

Whether it is a library session in Noida or a workshop in South Delhi, I keep my groups small. This ensures that every child, whether they are outgoing or shy, has a chance to speak, perform, and be heard. You will often see parents joining in too, because when adults show excitement for a story, children naturally follow suit. Let’s create a space where your child can explore a thousand lives through books.

I’m Shefali, an engineer who swapped tech for tales. I believe stories are the best way to teach kids empathy, and that is why I started Bukmuk—to make sure every child has a library of their own and the joy of a good story.
