Waterfront Home Design: Minimalist Architecture by the Lake

The primary objective here was to let the landscape dictate the interior. By using an all-white, neutral palette, we stripped back the visual noise, ensuring the eye is pulled directly to the lake and indigenous trees outside. This approach requires precise coordination of lighting and structural glazing to maintain that sense of openness throughout the day.

Designing for a lakeside plot in Bengaluru involves more than just aesthetics. It demands a rigorous study of the water-table, wind patterns, and the way light refracts off the surface throughout the day. In this residence, we utilized double-height glass panels to erase the boundary between the internal lounge and the exterior environment. The central water court serves as the internal heart, mimicking the lake outside while providing natural cooling and ventilation. We prioritized structural clean lines and a restrained material palette, primarily concrete and white plaster, to ensure the building remains a silent observer of the landscape. Every detail, from the floating staircase to the integration of existing trees, was planned to minimize the footprint of the architecture itself. This project represents our commitment to light-filled, minimalist residential architecture that respects its natural context.
