We strengthen Bangalore's maternal healthcare by training frontline workers in evidence-based practices for nutrition, breastfeeding, and newborn care.

Highlights from our training with Sangama's Community Health Associates. We covered breastfeeding best practices, maternal nutrition, and newborn care, complete with testimonials from participants on how the session helped them.

We conducted a hands-on training session for Gubbachi NGO health workers, equipping them with essential skills in maternal and newborn care to support vulnerable communities in Bangalore.

A look at our training session at the Urban PHC in Nandini Layout, where we demonstrated exercises to alleviate back pain during pregnancy for nurses, ASHA workers, and Community Healthcare Workers.

It was wonderful to be part of the SpotCare Wellness Lounge launch. Our experienced clinicians will be offering consultations in women's health and maternal and child health as part of this collaboration.

About Community Training & Empowerment

When we train frontline health workers, such as ASHA staff and NGO associates, we focus on the practical moments that matter most—like demonstrating correct latching techniques for breastfeeding or identifying signs of maternal distress. These sessions ensure that the knowledge we share doesn't stay in a classroom, but reaches mothers in communities across Bangalore where it is needed most.

Our approach to training is built on the belief that systemic change happens when we empower the people who are already on the front lines. We work with organizations like Sangama and Gubbachi NGO to conduct capacity-building workshops that address the real, day-to-day challenges of maternal and newborn health.

What We Cover

Our training modules are designed for nurses, ASHA workers, and community health volunteers who want to provide more evidence-based support. We cover:

  • Breastfeeding Support: Practical techniques to help mothers overcome common latching difficulties and understand milk supply.
  • Maternal Nutrition: Simple, actionable advice on pregnancy and postpartum nutrition that works within local dietary habits.
  • Newborn Care: Gentle, evidence-based methods for newborn handling and hygiene.
  • Physical Wellness: Demonstrations on movement and exercises to alleviate common issues like back pain during pregnancy, as seen in our sessions at the Urban PHC in Nandini Layout.

Why Community Training Matters

Healthcare is not just about medical intervention; it is about providing mothers with correct, unbiased information in a language they understand. By training those who are already trusted by the community, we create a support system that is more accessible, respectful, and effective. We aim to debunk widespread myths—like the idea that specific foods are a cure-all—and replace them with actionable facts that help mothers make informed decisions about their own bodies and their babies.

We are a collective of doctors, counselors, and volunteers who believe birth support shouldn't just be for the privileged few. We take our evidence-based practices out of the clinic and directly into the community, training the workers who are on the front lines every single day.
