Community Events & Maternal Health Initiatives
A look into how we unite, learn, and collaborate to reshape maternal healthcare experiences across Bengaluru.
Our Annual General Meeting at Yogisthaan was a great success. It was a day of engaging discussions and shared passion, reinforcing our commitment to improving birth experiences in Bangalore by uniting and collaborating.
We deeply appreciate the collaboration between Aastrika Foundation, BMCRI, and Vani Vilas Hospital in setting up midwifery training institutes. This initiative is transforming maternal healthcare by promoting woman-centered, respectful care.
We were thrilled to promote this workshop on "The Language of Birth" with international speaker Jenny Kozlow. Events like these help expectant couples and birth workers understand birth through intuition and effective communication.
We were honored to attend this vital discussion hosted by Aastrika Foundation on "Too Much, Too Soon: India's Rising C-Section Rates." Addressing this issue is central to our mission of promoting healthier birth outcomes.
A photo from the panel discussion on rising C-section rates in India. It was a pleasure to meet and learn from experts in the field who are dedicated to improving maternal health and well-being.
Another moment from the Aastrika Foundation event. Collaborating with and learning from other organizations is key to creating widespread, positive change in the maternal health landscape.
About Our Network & Community Events
You have seen the photos from our recent annual general meetings and midwifery workshops, but our real work happens in the conversations during these gatherings. Whether you are looking for a prenatal support group or professional training to improve birth outcomes, our events are designed to be accessible, multilingual spaces to exchange honest, evidence-based knowledge.
Our events are not just about showing up; they are about building the support system that every parent and provider deserves. We regularly partner with institutions like the Aastrika Foundation and Vani Vilas Hospital to host discussions that matter, from tackling rising C-section rates to training the next generation of nurse midwives.
What happens at our events?
- For Expecting Parents: We host community meetups and prenatal classes that focus on 'The Language of Birth.' These are spaces where you can ask tough questions in your preferred language—be it Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, or English—and receive guidance that respects your choices, not just standard clinical advice.
- For Healthcare Professionals: We believe in strengthening the entire ecosystem. Through our partnerships with state and central health bodies, we facilitate workshops that equip ASHA workers, nurses, and midwives with the latest WHO-standard practices for respectful maternal care.
- Advocacy & Awareness: Some of our most important events are community dialogues. We bring together parents, doctors, and activists to openly discuss systemic issues like obstetric violence and the importance of woman-centered birth.
We aim to ensure that 'Ee session inda naavu thilkondvi' (we learned from this session) is the sentiment every attendee takes home. If you want to connect with a network that prioritizes safety, mental health, and community bonding, our calendar is open to you.
Bangalore Birth Network
We started as a group of parents and professionals who saw a need for better birth experiences in our city. We are not just here for consultations; we are here to build the community we all wish we had when we were starting our own journeys.
