Our Professional Woodworking Workshop in Bangalore

Our workshop operates as an extension of the industrial sector rather than a typical classroom. You will gain hands-on experience with production-scale machinery, including Biesse and Homag CNC routers, sliding table panel saws, and industrial edge banders. By the time you complete your training, you will understand the complete lifecycle of furniture manufacturing, from raw material preparation to final assembly and finishing, ensuring you are prepared for real-world production environments.

A Professional Environment at IWST

Located within the Institute of Wood Science and Technology in Malleshwaram, our workshop provides an authentic setting for mastering the woodworking trade. We believe that professional training requires access to the same machinery you will encounter on a factory floor. Our facility is equipped with dedicated zones for design, solid wood processing, and panel processing, allowing for a seamless transition from concept to creation.

Industrial Machinery & Software

Students have supervised access to a comprehensive suite of equipment. You will train on standard industrial tools, including:

• Panel Processing: Sliding table panel saws and automated edge banders for precision cutting and finishing.
• CNC Operations: Hands-on programming and operation of industrial CNC routers for both 2D and 3D fabrication.
• Solid Wood Work: Traditional joinery setups combined with planing, mortising, and boring machines.
• Design Labs: Proficiency in professional software including PYTHA 3D, CAD, and CATIA to translate ideas into actionable engineering drawings.

Our Training Philosophy

Our curriculum follows the mantra of measuring twice and cutting once. We combine the precision of computer-aided design with the tactile understanding of wood properties gained through hand tools like planes and chisels.

Real-World Readiness

The workshop experience is central to our one-year diploma programme, which includes a six-month mandatory industrial attachment. This dual-phase structure ensures you are not just building prototypes in a safe environment but are also accustomed to the pace and quality standards of industry partners like Featherlite. With limited batch sizes of 20 students, we prioritize individual guidance and rigorous safety protocols, ensuring every student develops the confidence to handle professional-grade equipment.
