Master the art of furniture making through our rigorous one-year program, blending digital design, hand tool proficiency, and industrial CNC manufacturing.

This is where learning happens. We provide close, hands-on guidance as students operate industrial-grade machinery like this panel saw, ensuring they build both skill and confidence safely.

Every project starts with a plan. Here is a digital 3D model of a student's bench project, created using CAD software to perfect dimensions and joinery before a single piece of wood is cut.

From screen to reality. This is the final solid wood bench, expertly crafted by our students, turning the digital design into a functional and beautiful piece of furniture.

Our students learn to operate advanced CNC machinery, a critical skill in modern woodworking. Here, they are preparing a large panel for automated cutting, bridging traditional craft with digital fabrication.

We believe in the power of hand tools. A student carefully uses a chisel and mallet to create a precise joint, a fundamental skill that teaches control and attention to detail.

This student-made modular cabinet demonstrates modern furniture construction, combining a sleek panel-based body with solid wood drawer fronts and smooth, reliable hardware.

Learning is a collaborative process. Our trainers lead group discussions, reviewing designs and physical models to solve challenges and share knowledge before starting work in the workshop.

About this collection

Our one-year diploma program moves beyond basic carpentry to teach professional furniture production. You spend six months in our Malleshwaram workshop mastering CAD design, precision hand tool techniques, and industrial CNC machinery like Biesse and Homag, followed by a mandatory six-month industrial internship to gain real factory floor experience.

Building furniture that lasts requires more than just tools. It demands a systematic approach that links engineering with aesthetics. Our curriculum is built on the philosophy of 'measure twice, cut once,' ensuring that every student understands the integrity of the materials they use, from solid teak and pine to modern engineered boards.

The Curriculum

  • Digital Foundation: You begin by learning to translate concepts into reality. We train you on CAD software like PYTHA 3D and CATIA to create precise engineering drawings before any wood is cut.
  • Precision Machinery: Gain hands-on operational time with industrial-grade equipment, including panel saws, edge banders, and CNC routers. You learn the full programming cycle, not just the basics.
  • Traditional Craft: While technology powers efficiency, we maintain that hand tools are the heart of woodworking. You will master joinery techniques like mortise and tenon, as well as modern assembly methods using dowels and modular connectors.
  • Industrial Readiness: The final six months of your diploma are dedicated to a mandatory industrial attachment. You will work with partner companies like Featherlite, experiencing the reality of a production environment and professional quality standards.

Workshop Environment

Located within the Institute of Wood Science and Technology, our facility is designed for intensive learning. We keep batch sizes small, capped at 20 students, to ensure that our trainers can provide individual guidance during your workshop rotations. Whether you are a science graduate or a design enthusiast, our program provides the technical foundation needed for a career in the wood industry.
