My Philosophy and Yoga Teachings
Yoga is not just an exercise for me, but a path to reclaiming your inner peace. From the quiet of my village upbringing to the lessons I teach today, this is the foundation of my practice at Arya Power Yoga.
In this interview, I explain the origins of my journey. It started with a spiritual upbringing in Haryana, was shaped by Swami Vivekananda's books, and found its true purpose through serving my parents during their illness.
Continuing my story, I discuss how caring for my parents led me to understand the deep connection between stress and illness. This realization inspired me to use yoga as a tool to help others find relief from stress, leading to the creation of Arya Power Yoga.
During an interview for DD Urdu on International Yoga Day, I had the opportunity to speak about the history and importance of yoga. I discussed the eight limbs of yoga as described by Maharishi Patanjali, the foundation of this ancient science.
About My Philosophy & Teachings
Most people approach me seeking physical fitness, but I teach that yoga is a complete science of eight limbs. We focus deeply on pranayama (breath control) and dhyan (meditation) to manage the tanaav (stress) of modern life. True transformation happens when you start applying these ancient principles to your daily office and home routine, not just when you are on the mat.
At the heart of Arya Power Yoga is a simple motto: Love, Serve, and Give. My journey began in a small village in Haryana, where I learned the value of simplicity. However, the real work began when I witnessed how urban life drains our mental and physical health. I do not view yoga as a series of aesthetic poses for social media. Instead, I teach it as a practical tool for survival and growth.
The Eight Limbs of Yoga
I adhere to the path laid down by Maharishi Patanjali. It is not just about the final pose; it is about the journey:
- Yama & Niyama: The ethical foundations that guide your choices.
- Asana & Pranayama: Moving the body and controlling the breath to clear the mind.
- Pratyahara & Dharana: Withdrawing from external chaos and focusing the mind.
- Dhyan & Samadhi: The deeper states of meditation and stillness.
Why My Approach is Different
I combine my experience as a former Mr. India with deep Vedic studies from Mysore and Rishikesh. Whether you are dealing with corporate burnout or simply seeking a way to feel grounded, my classes are designed to be 'real.' We do not just stretch muscles; we work on the breath to lower cortisol and anxiety. If you attend my sessions, expect to learn box breathing, simple meditation techniques, and the discipline needed to maintain your practice long after you leave the studio.
