Clay Workshops for Schools and Students in Bangalore
I bring the magic of clay directly to your campus. Whether it's sensory play for preschoolers or technical sculpting for design students, my sessions are all about the joy of creating together and discovering the stories our hands can tell.
A snapshot from a bustling parent-child clay session at Chimply Fun Preschool. It was a fantastic turnout, with the floor filled with families discovering the joy of creating together.
The feedback from my sessions means the world to me. This board, filled with heartfelt notes from parents and kids after a preschool workshop, is a reminder of why I love this work.
It's a privilege to share my passion for clay with the next generation of creators. Here I am, leading a workshop for aspiring artists and designers at the Bangalore School of Design.
This video shows a design student deeply focused on her project, exploring form and texture. My workshops for colleges are designed to complement their curriculum and provide hands-on experience with clay.
The students' creations became a permanent part of their environment. The beautiful tiles they made are now embedded in the walls and floors of their new school building at Shibumi.
A close-up of a student's tile, now set into the floor of their school. This piece, with its intricate fish design, will be a part of the school's story for years to come.
Another example of the beautiful, permanent art created by students. This floral tile adds a touch of handmade beauty to the school's architecture, a lasting legacy of their creativity.
About Clay Workshops for Schools & Students
When I work with students, the goal isn't just to make a bowl or a tile. It’s about the shift that happens when hands get messy. For preschoolers, we focus on sensory exploration and parent-child bonding, while for design students, we dive into technical clay-forming skills that complement their curriculum. The best part? Seeing these creations come to life, sometimes even becoming permanent pieces of the school's architecture.
My approach to teaching pottery is rooted in the idea that clay is a tool for connection rather than just a medium for art. When we set up in a school environment, we strip away the pressure of perfection.
For Preschoolers & Primary Schools We emphasize sensory clay workshops. For little ones, it is about the feeling—the rolling, squashing, and squishing. These sessions are designed to calm the mind and encourage focus, often involving parent-child activities that foster a deeper bond. We keep instructions simple, prioritizing the process of discovery over the finished product.
For Design Students & Colleges I collaborate with institutions like the Bangalore School of Design to offer workshops that bridge the gap between theory and practice. We cover hand-building techniques, texture exploration, and form development. These sessions can be tailored to align with specific design modules, giving students a tactile way to understand volume and structure.
Practical Details Whether we are at my studio in HRBR Layout or I am bringing the setup to your school campus, I handle everything. I bring the clay, the tools, and the cleanup kit. For those interested in permanent art, we can even plan projects where students create tiles for the school's walls or floors—just like the work we did with Shibumi.
I believe that every student, regardless of age, has a 'Clay Conversation' waiting to happen. If you are an educator looking to introduce a tactile, grounding element to your curriculum, let's chat about what we can build together.
