Realistic Baby and Pet Portraits in Graphite
A baby's first giggle or a pet's soulful gaze—these moments are fleeting, but they deserve to be held onto. My pencil portraits aim to catch that exact magic, turning a simple photo into a memory you can keep on your wall forever.
The best reward is a happy client. Here is the sweet baby girl with her finished A3 portrait, a special gift for her first birthday.

"Photographs can't justify it." Client feedback like this makes all the hours of detailed work completely worth it.

About this collection
For baby portraits, I often add soft, ethereal elements like butterflies to the background to keep the mood playful and light. With pets, I focus entirely on the eyes and fur texture using charcoal, ensuring that the final piece on archival paper feels like a breathing, living memory of your companion.
When I draw, I am not just copying a photograph. I am looking for the story behind the subject. For baby and pet portraits, I use a mix of Staedtler graphite and General's charcoal to create depth and contrast, layering these mediums to achieve a realistic texture that lasts.
Every piece is created on 200gsm archival paper, either Fabriano or Canson, because I want these portraits to stay with your family for years. Once the drawing is complete, I apply a professional fixative spray to prevent smudging and mount it with a clean, 2-inch white border. This gives the portrait a gallery-finished look, ready for you to frame and hang immediately.
Whether you have a high-resolution photo of your toddler or a candid shot of your cat, I work closely with you to analyze the lighting and angle. If you have a specific vision—like a soft bokeh background for a pet or a floral touch for a baby—let me know. I pour my heart into this process, and my goal is for every portrait to feel like a jaadu ki jhappi, a magical hug, on paper.
Komal Thoria
I'm Komal, and for me, art isn't just lines on paper—it's a way to hold on to the little ones who make our lives whole. Whether I’m shading the softness of a baby’s cheek or the individual hairs of a pet, I’m trying to capture that fleeting spark that makes them who they are. Every stroke comes from a place of gratitude and love.
