Hand-drawn Graphite & Charcoal Portraits

I draw to capture the stories and emotions that words often miss. Whether it is a pet, a loved one, or a fading memory, I pour my heart into every sketch to make it feel like a quiet, warm hug on paper.

This is why I draw. Seeing my Naani's reaction, her tears of joy when she saw the portrait of her and my Naana, is a moment I will treasure forever. My art is about capturing these feelings, creating a piece of your heart on paper that feels like a warm, magical hug.

This is the finished portrait of my Naana and Naani, which I named "Laadvo". It's a hand-drawn family portrait created with graphite and charcoal on high-quality Fabriano paper to ensure it lasts for generations. Each line is filled with love and memories.

I create deeply personal memorial portraits to honor loved ones. This piece was commissioned for a friend who lost her father, with a special message in Marathi that reads, "I am always with you, Nishi." These emotional pencil art pieces are meant to bring comfort and keep memories alive.

Capturing the innocence of a child is a special joy. For this baby portrait, I used soft graphite to create a gentle expression and added a creative touch with a subtle butterfly background, making it a truly unique piece for her first birthday.

I also draw our furry family members. In this pet portrait of a kitten, I focused on capturing the life in its eyes and the soft texture of its fur using specialized pencil techniques, bringing its curious personality to the page.

It was a wonderful surprise to receive this heartfelt message from actress Aahana Kumra. I was so touched by her kind words about the portrait I drew for her. Creating art that connects with people is the greatest reward.

My skill is built on a foundation of detailed study. This still life drawing of corn and lemon was a practice in capturing complex textures and the play of light and shadow, skills I bring to every custom portrait I create.

About this collection

I do not just trace a photograph; I study it. Before I ever pick up my graphite or charcoal, I look for the story behind the reference. Whether it is the specific sparkle in a kitten's eye, the way a father holds his daughter, or the familiar posture of a grandparent, I focus on these micro-details to ensure the final piece feels like a living, breathing memory rather than just a sketch.

My work is rooted in patience and emotional honesty. I do not rush the process because I believe some memories deserve time. When I work on a portrait, I use high-grade archival paper like Fabriano or Canson to ensure that the piece you hold today remains a keepsake for years to come. I pair this with professional tools like Staedtler graphite and General's charcoal to create deep, realistic contrasts.

My Approach to Your Story

Every project is different, and I try to adapt my technique to fit the subject:

  • Memorial Portraits: These are incredibly close to my heart. I work with sensitivity to capture the warmth of a loved one who has passed, aiming to create a piece that brings comfort rather than sadness.
  • The 50-50 Collaborative Sketch: If you want to be a part of the process, I offer a unique service where you provide the initial outline, and I use my experience to add the depth, shading, and technical finish. It is a way for us to create something together.
  • Pet & Baby Portraits: I focus on the textures—the soft fur of a pet or the delicate expressions of a child—using blending techniques that do not rely on rough stumps.

I want my art to be an honest reflection of your world. If you look at my sketches, you will see a lot of grey and black, but I hope you feel the color of the memories behind them. ।। श्री कृष्ण सदा सहायते ।। (Shri Krishna is always there to help).
