Artistic & Spiritual Pencil Portraits
I create soulful pencil portraits and artistic compositions that capture the essence of faith and personal inspiration. Each piece is hand-drawn with deep intention.
A portrait of Lord Krishna as I imagine Him, with soft yet powerful eyes. This piece is a reflection of my personal spiritual journey and connection.
My humble attempt to capture the divine and peaceful presence of HH Mahant Swami Maharaj in this mounted pencil portrait.
A portrait of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, where I focused on capturing his serene and compassionate expression. The cloth he wears has "Shri Swaminarayan" written on it, a key detail for this spiritual piece.
A video showing the creation of a modern, stylized Ganesha drawing for Ganesh Chaturthi, focusing on clean lines and smooth shading.
An example of my commercial work, this is a realistic sketch of a diamond and onyx bracelet created for a jewelry brand's advertisement concept.
About this collection
When I work on spiritual or thematic compositions, I prioritize the textures—the soft fabric folds or the light in the eyes—using archival-quality paper like Fabriano. These pieces are meant to be kept as lasting keepsakes, so I finish every drawing with a high-grade matte fixative. This spray prevents graphite from smudging or fading, ensuring the depth of the charcoal remains as vivid years later as it is the day I draw it.
My work with spiritual and artistic pieces is grounded in the patience of the craft. When I sketch a deity or a symbolic composition, I avoid the temptation to rush. I use graphite layering to create tonal depth that standard sketches often miss, particularly when rendering the gentle expressions of figures like Krishna or Mahant Swami Maharaj.
For every commission, I prioritize archival quality. I use 200gsm Fabriano or Canson paper because these pieces are meant to be kept for years, often becoming a focal point in prayer rooms or study spaces. If you have a concept in mind, I work closely with you to bring it to life. Sometimes that involves merging references; other times, it is about simplifying a complex idea into a clean, impactful drawing.
I also offer framing guidance to ensure the final piece complements your home interiors. Everything I create is shipped securely from my studio. It is my way of sharing a bit of peace and devotion with your space.
Komal Thoria
I am Komal, and I pour my heart into every sketch. To me, a portrait is a conversation between the paper and the person it represents, whether it is a deity or a loved one. I work slowly because some bonds and beliefs deserve the time to be captured just right.
